Mediocre is a compliment
We had an excellent meal here while staying at the hotel. Ashley, our server, was awesome and the food was delicious! The lobster ravioli was to die for and my husband raved about his burger. Small and intimate, I would eat here regularly if I lived in town.
We stayed at the Portland Harbor Hotel. On our last day we decided to try breakfast at the Blue Fin. The food was outstanding. However-the prices and service not so much. I have some dietary restrictions. I ordered egg whites and 2 pieces of French toast plain. I asked for sugar free syrup, but they didn’t have any. The bill arrived and I was charged $27.00 for the order. When we asked for further explanation she said we charge $4.00 per egg (I ordered 3) and she wasn’t sure how to ring in the French toast so she just charged us for the French toast breakfast. She said there wasn’t a manager around or anyone to help so there wasn’t anything she could do. My review is to caution you if you have restrictions for eating or want a more budget friendly meal or some good service. Other than that. The food was good.
I ate breakfast here the first morning. I had a boat of oatmeal with blueberries and strawberries on top. There also was walnuts and sugar. It was a full meal and good. Dinner was very good as well and our waitress was very personable. The food was creatively prepared and served. The dining room is well spread out so there were no fears of germs nearby. The seafood was fresh and well prepared. It made staying at the hotel worth it.
I stopped by mid day and John was so nice we returned at 4:00 for a late lunch/early dinner before our 5:30 cruise on Lucky Catch. We loved the view of the beautiful courtyard and had a quick dinner. Mine was phenomenal! One of the best meals ever, and definitely the best in Portland. Handicapped by my allergy to salt, I was delighted the chef prepared a beautifully presented perfectly cooked salmon over smashed potato with yummy roasted veggies and a buttery, cilantro enhanced sauce. Kudos to this chef!!! Thank you so much. Hubby had a lobster roll, good but none of the lobster rolls in Portland compared to the ones in Ogunquit. Service good, ambiance great, prices fair for Portland.
Dining on the patio at Blue Fin on a mild summer evening is a delightful experience. The ambiance is superb, the service is attentive, and the food very good. We shared 3 small plates. The chicken pot stickers and the crab cakes were both very tasty; the wagyu sliders were pleasant but paled in comparison to the other two plates. The almond joy dessert was a perfect finish to the meal.
Very good food here! My wife and I stayed at the Portland Harbor Hotel this summer, and ended up dining here. While we liked Scales slightly more, this was easily our 2nd favorite restaurant on our vacation. The food was done very well (some of the best salmon I've had), and the outside dining is in a nice little courtyard/garden in the middle of the hotel. Very intimate.
We loved our dinner at Blufin. It is located inside a hotel, but we you do not have to be staying there to eat there. The menu was small but everything we tried was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! We sat indoors as it was a very hot and humid evening, but their outdoor seating looked beautiful. Our server was the only one working, but the place was small and she was very attentive. The cocktails and dessert were also great. Definitely recommend!
Four us for a late business dinner on a Friday night. Didn't seem overly busy, but service was a little off, and slow. Assume understaffed.
