This is a place that you won't mind waiting in line for. Excellent food prepared quickly by very friendly wait staff. It's obviously NOT their first rodeo.
When your business is open until 2pm you should accommodate customers until that time. We drove a half hour to eat at a restaurant we like just to get turned away because we walked in at 1:32 pm and seating stops at 1:30. Whatever happened to the idea that the last customer is as important as the first? I completely understand the labor market right now , but your posted hours should reflect what actually occurs.
We discovered Bayou Kitchen when searching for brunch spots in the Portland area. All the reviews we read were positive and we couldn't agree more. The smells are incredible, even before you get through the front door. The staff is friendly and laid back, even though it was incredibly busy. The food is very good and definitely has a southern flair to it. Judging by the crowd, this is a popular place, and with good reason. If you are in the Portland, Maine area, definitely give Bayou Kitchen a try!!
Cornbread is good stuff.Banana chocolate chip pancakes are on point.Great staff.... Super friendly.Check them out.

Great food and awesome service! The wait staff apologized profusely for our wait which we didn't mind. Exceptional service and the coffee was always full! The Coffee flavored pancakes were incredible! The Huevos rancheros was very good and so was the Omelette. The corn bread was good, but I had better ones. Overall, reasonable price, good food, and great service. I will definitely come back again.
The omlettes and scrambles are amazing. Great flavor choices and we were very pleased. The homemade cornbread was also a winner!Constructive Feedback: Cooking grits requires "southern love" aka: butter and seasoning! I was really looking forward to grits, but without any salt/pepper/seasoning or butter it's just not something I'd order again.
We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. The food was well prepared, and excellent service. Our server and other staff checked on us several times and made us feel very welcome. A very eclectic dining experience and we will return again soon. Thank you
A cute little hole in the wall gem! Food was fabulous! Had the mud bug omelet and fiancee had huevos rancheros mmm so good. Great service Tiffany and Kate were super friendly and attentive very knowledgeable about places to visit.. Gotta love the locals view. Definitely a must stop for breakfast.. wish they served cocktails been the icing on the cake!!
