This was our second time at this AC hotel. We are typically Marriott people. Last year we were in a regular room and my son was so excited to watch the boats in the morning. We had no issues. This year we booked a corner water view suite to have some more room. We were in an ADA room for some reason - which ended up working out because we had to clean our feet in the shower multiple times a day during our stay because the floor was so dirty. The table behind the sofa bed was also falling apart, every time it was touched, paint was flaking off and sticking to us. The fridge worked terribly and was fluctuating between too warm or it would freeze the food we had brought for our toddler (and FYI portland basically has nothing for kids to eat) so I had to run to Whole Foods a couple times. It wasn’t great. It WAS a large room, lots of windows with great views of the water/boats for the kiddo, darkening worked great and the floor plan with two entrances to the bathroom worked well. Beds were good and everyone we interacted with was friendly. Pretty good location. Lastly - twice after getting my car back from valet (which is more expensive than advertised on the website) the settings had been messed with (ex. It’s not easy to get it into the fast sport mode but they figured it out just fine) and the center console stuff was flung out onto the seat (which usually means I have raced someone at a stoplight). This just made me feel a little gross. We probably will find another hotel for our 3rd visit to portland which is a bummer.

In advance I have to say that this stay cost about US$ 600 per night. On our vacation to New England my wife and I visited beautiful Portland, Maine and were really looking forward to staying at the AC Hotel by Marriott Downtown Waterfront. The hotel is nicely situated at the port in the middle of a newly developing living and working quarter. The design is modern and of seemingly high quality but unfortunately that's where the niceties have to end. Upon arrival we dropped off our car and proceeded to check-in. The welcome was businesslike and we should have been suspicious when we were asked if we would like our room cleaned. The only other information freely offered was that they have a happy hour. Nobody offered to show us our room or to help us with our luggage even though it was obvious that I am disabled and walking with a crutch. Upon entering the room the first thing we noticed was that the bed was all crumpled with hair on the pillows and sheets and that the shower was dirty. We decided to take a small walk before unpacking, told the employee at the reception about the dirt and went our way. When we returned the bed was freshly made and the shower cleaned. Unfortunately they only took care of the affore mentioned points and didn't give the room a once over because when we wanted to put our stuff in the wardrobe we noticed a layer of dust accumulated in at least a couple of weeks of not cleaning. I used a small towel to clean the wardrobe and the previously white towel ended up being beige - yummy! At breakfast many glasses were covered in greasy fingerprints, most cups weren't really clean and crumbs lay on the table. When people were finished with their breakfast the employee shook out the place mat on the floor and that was that. The buffet itself was small haphazardly put together with open cardboard boxes left in the corner and they actually didn't even serve cappuccino. I could carry on describing even more problems (not refilling shower gel, no free face masks, stains everywhere, loudly humming minibar...) but I think everyone got the picture. In addition it's one of these hotels where the designers thought it would be nice to place the bathroom in the middle of the room. Looks great but even though I'm married for more than 15 years I appreciate a real door when using the toilet to have some privacy but that's more or less a personal thing. The whole place propagated a feeling of negligence and disinterest even though this hotel could be a real gem if managed better. I can imagine that they encounter problems finding employees due to COVID but I'm not prepared to pay 600 US$ per night for this kind of non-service. At least they should have lowered the rates. Next time we'll stay somewhere else!

Upon arrival, the valet staff of Corey, Cole, and Will greeted us a smile and helped us unload our vehicle and decided on the best parking option, (We chose Valet!). Then into the lobby where Neesa was a big help giving us recommendations and checking us into the room. The hotel has a nice modern feel, very minimalistic, but comfortable! they didn't have a restaurant in house, but they have a bar and happy hour which was great! The hotel is in walking distance of almost all Portland attractions, and if it is not, the AC has a complimentary shuttle that runs on the weekends! At night we would check in with the valet to find out where the hot spots were around town. Kyle always had a few good recommendations ready for us! all in all, it was clean, friendly, and convenient and would absolutely stay here again

We stayed here for two nights and walked to a wedding at Fort Allen Park just half a mile away. Commercial Street and all it has to offer is steps away. We had a huge room which was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was nicely done with coffee, fruit, croissants and breads, yogurt, and other options available cafeteria style. We also took advantage of a hot egg breakfast option, prepared on request, that was delicious. Our server was friendly and efficient. A very pleasant experience all-around.

The rooms were spacious. Safe, coffee maker , ironing in room. Good location close to train ride and shops and Commercial Street. Breakfast was Buffett style as well as ordering hot foods. Fruits, cheeses, meats, together, coffees, bagels available.

We needed a place to drop our bags for the afternoon as the person we were visiting was not going to be home till later in the afternoon. Neesa & the gentleman working early afternoon on 7/9 at the front desk were happy to oblige. I really appreciated their flexibility to hold our luggage as I know this is usually reserved for hotel guest. I will definitely be staying here next time we are in town.

We stopped in for our first night in Portland. This property will meet your basic needs and is close to the water. Breakfast options are limited but within walking distance to other options. Their shuttle service within the local area was convenient.

Great hotel, clean, modern... but constant vibrating sound 24/7 on left side of the hotel. I found it very uncomfortable. I hope they fix it, because it is a pretty big issue for a lot of their rooms. The sound is quite strong.

Modern, clean rooms with an awesome view (even the city view was nice) and friendly service. Of course, the location is super convenient to restaurants, bars, and stores. We didn't want to leave. Highly recommend.
