It's been about 10 years since I've been to Governors but hubby and I were on our way out for a date night and everything else was just too busy. I was not disappointed. The lady who greeted us was so nice and our waitress was prompt & kind. The food was absolutely delicious. We got fried haddock, lobster roll and sweet teriyaki chicken wings (boneless). Came with coleslaw, baked potatoes & one of the other meals were FF> it was all so very good. Everything tasted fresh, looked good... just everything you would want/expect when going out for a meal. I will definitely be going back and absolutely recommend you do too! :)
One star is being generous. The food was good but the service was horrible. We waited about 10 minutes for our waitress to show up after we got seated. We ordered our drinks and our meal at the same time. 15 minutes go by and no drinks and no waitress. Our food comes to the table, still no drinks. I asked about our drinks as I'm waiting to take some medications. She apologized saying she was new. I ordered a seafood platter. She brought 1 cocktail sauce and 1 tarter sauce. She never returned to the table for about 20 minutes. She didn't have much personality. She only had 1 other table to wait on so she wasn't busy. This was one of my worst experiences at governors
Nice family restaurant. Hasn't changed much through the years other than updates. Food was delicious, the staff was kind and the cake slices are huge. Would recommend for many occasions.
Some of the best pies and desserts in town hands down. The waiting staff is always friendly and pleasant ?. Great place for families, elders, and younger people. Definitely a cornerstone of Lewiston and Auburn's heritage that cannot be missed.
Excellent service, in respect to both timeliness and congeniality. Decent prices, average and mostly fair for the portions. Food is hit or miss on the main courses, but the (kind of pricey) desserts are excellent. Where Governor's stands out is the regular specials it runs on certain days of the week. Sundays and Wednesdays are family favorites for us.
Visited this location for lunch with my husband,, kids and mum in law after not being here since 2012. Wasn't disappointed. Friendly waiter. Decent food and portions. And the bakery is amazing. Ended up bringing a bunch of treats home for later and they were amazing. We are looking forward to our next trip. ?
A Maine family restaurant. Always good food at reasonable prices. Bakery includes cookies, pies, muffins, bars, chocolates, eclairs, etc. Governors rolls are known far and wide. Monthly specials, Sunday brunch, tasty frappes, good kids menu and a train goes around up above. Dine in or take out. You can’t lose.
Our second time eating at one of there locations, both times were great food, and great service, this time Kristina went over and above when I ordered and was told they were out of what I wanted and ended up ordering something else, she surprised me with my original choice and adjusted what I settled for back to my original order, very happy she took it upon herself to do that, wonderful waitress!!
Had to work thanksgiving this year and could not travel home for dinner. Was super excited that I could pick up an individual thanksgiving from Governor’s! I was quite impressed with how good it tasted! Not quite my moms quality but still very tasty! Thanks for having this option for those who can’t travel to be with family on Thanksgiving.
Wonderful clam and lobster chowders, lobster roll and beet salad with fresh warm buns. Thanks for the great friendly service too!
