This is a beautiful, historic building with great food and great staff. Everything from the bread, to dessert was a great experience.
I love this place and have been several times. Service was excellent as always and we all had crab cakes to start which were delicious! Two of us had the Halibut which was good, but a little on the dry side, which is a little unusual because, Ben, the chef, if fantastic. Our other guests had lamb chops and scallops and they both loved their dinners. We finished off dinner with a wonderful homemade strawberry shortcake which was delightful. We will definitely be back again.

Our occasion was not made special at all. I have sent an email directly to the restaurant. We stated very clearly that my father was undergoing a cancer surgery this coming week and it was his anniversary so we wanted this to be really special. Our bill was well over $400, this included them not having enough dessert to bring out to us, not bringing anything out for free or as a special surprise to acknowledge the event of my parents anniversary, the food needed salt, the crème brí»lée was kind of weird like they had scraped the bottom of the barrel just to get the three put together that they had given us, and the Toffee chip cookie looked like a chips ahoy cookie because it was small and super hard and nobody could crack through it. It was just a major letdown to spend so much money on a fancy place and not even receive so much as some bread before we ate! It was definitely lacking in food quality, acknowledgment of the special event, and there were just two black balloons tied to the table which made it feel more like a funeral. I believe there was a rehearsal dinner going on two floors above us and Iâm thinking that took precedence over food quality? Either way we just felt really letdown that we couldnât provide my parents with a more special evening, I kept waiting for them to bring out a surprise dessert or cake like all the other restaurants have always done for special celebrations but nothing came out, we had to pay for everything we got and it was subpar.
Food was excellent. Waitress was attentive, so no excessive waiting between courses or to get check.

A small group of us went for my Mother's 60th birthday party. The server, hostess and chef were very friendly and accommodating. We had a fabulous meal with some ingredients prepared in ways we had never had before (the corn crème brulee is our new favorite food!). We are already planning a dinner for next month for another family birthday and everyone agreed that The Tarratine is the place to go!
Terrific food, as always. First time we were able to head up to the roof - a must do for anyone who comes to the Tarratine for a night out! A great place to have an excellent meal and enjoy the ambiance afterwards. One of the best Bangor has to offer!
