I ordered over the phone and picked up. The restaurant was very busy, I get that, but they managed to screw up every single detail of the main course I ordered and the other main course wasn't very good. My turkey and stuffing order was supposed to come with A) Turkey, It did. The turkey wstiuffingas cold nd dry. B) Stuffing and grave. No gravy at all and roughly a forkfull of stuffing. A baked potato with sour cream. Lovely potato. bigger than the turkey and the stuffing combined. No butter. No sour cream. Also cold. The shephard's pie my wife ordered was actually meatlof covered with watery gravy, a few peas and mashed potatoes that were, you guessed it, cold. Maybe in couodhave forgiven that, but 1) the price wwas high. 2) I got inswide ten minutes earlier than suggested to receive all of my food cold. The manager was very apologetic and offered to add the sour cream to my potatoe anjd maybe even throw in some pie if i wanted to drive back to take care of everything that was wrong. No thanks. I won't be stopping in again.
All I can say is WOW. I eat out maybe 3 times a month, but when I do I expect an experience. I can cook, eating out is my chance to not make a mess in my kitchen and relax.Governor's hit and exceeded all my expectations.The waitress, Lisa, was extremely friendly, fast, and attentive. I have had maybe three servers her equal in my life. My water never went below a quarter glass, we never felt abandoned or as though we were an inconvenience. 5 star wait staff.The kitchen staff was absolutely incredible. Peak lunch hour, and I was able to get probably one of the best Panco breaded fish and chips I've ever experienced in less than 10 minutes. We also ordered an extra side of onion rings after our main dishes arrived, and they were hot on our table in less than 5 minutes. The food is clearly all hand made, you can taste the fresh homemade batter and the fish and onion rings are crisp and clean, not soft and soggy. 5 star food.Dessert was a 'slice' of triple layer peanut butter chocolate cake that equated to about 1/2 an ordinary cake mix. Fed 2 grown adults, and it was not only big, it was GREAT. I pride myself on moist cakes that are unmatched in the commercial world, but this comes pretty darn close. 5 star dessert.My only complaint is the price, some dishes are above fair market value. But honestly, you get what you pay for, and I've paid more for less in the past. I will DEFINITELY be a regular customer after this amazing experience.
It's been awhile since we ate here in the Bangor, ME restaurant so we thought we'd give it a try again. I'm pleased to say we were not disappointed. The food was great and so was the service.
You can always count on a good meal and good service from Governor's. Been going here for years for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Great food. Great service. Spend money here.
We got the cheeseburger special for $6. It was delicious with a warm toasted bun. Fries were hot and crisp. We tried the chocolate cream pie for dessert and it was wonderful.
Meatloaf was not what I wanted but glad I ordered. It was great. Good choice for comfort food on a cold day.
Best corned beef hash I've had in a restaurant. That being said, service is sparce and the other dishes are a bit lacking. My breakfast come out half completed, and it took a few minutes to find a server to get the rest of my dish. Eggs are flavored well, but very dry.
Decent diner,amazing service. We had just the greatest server. It's what you would expect from average dinner foods. I'd compare to like a Friendly's. Great quick family meal.
Had the Cheese burger SPEACIAL my boyfriend ans I did and gotta say it was great. The Male waiter was on top of everything food came out withen 5 minutes couldn't of asked for a better Waiter/Waitress.
I've always had good things to say about governor's but last night I was not. I ordered the pot roast and it was stringy and hard to chew, the Mashed potatoes was literally less than a dollop. When I said to the waitress I know this isn't the usual amount and she just looked at me and walked off. Very disappointed
