After years of driving by and wondering if this place was any good, my husband and I decided to stop in during the busy Saturday supper hour. We were delighted. It's attractively furnished and the wait staff were friendly. Great food and excellent service. I had the baked haddock (just a little too dry) and hubby had the huge hamburger, over which he raved. Hope to get there again soon.
Mac's... "Where the locals eat" is the slogan. I'm local so the wife and I went in for a late Sunday lunch. Always a great atmosphere and the wait staff is great. This particular visit at first was no different than any other before. The waiter was fantastic through the whole visit. Our food came out quickly and looked amazing. I took a bite of my chicken finger and immediately noticed it was dry and over cooked. Not a huge deal. I'm hungry and they're busy. While chewing on my chicken I was cutting up my wife's Mini Mac steak. She's a stroke survivor and can't cut her own meat due to a disability. Cutting her steak medium well felt like I was cutting up a work boot. While chewing I feel a hard crunch in my mouth and immediately thought maybe a small peice of bone. It happens. I fished the 2 hard peices out of my mouth and swallowed my bite. Only to discover it was 2 peices of my back right molar. The breading was so over cooked it broke a tooth! I immediately called the waiter over and let him know just broke a tooth on my chicken. He was super apologetic and offered me the menu to choose a different meal. Now I could feel the pain in my tooth and had lost my appetite. The part of this I find the most irritating is the fact that a manager didn't get involved in the situation. My meal and beer were taken off the bill but I still had to pay for my wifes leather steak. 6 or 7 years ago I choked on a peice of steak at Mac's and a manger followed me into the restroom to make sure I was ok. This time the owner was in the restaurant and made no effort at damage control or customer service. I paid my tab and still tipped the waiter quite generously based on the situation as it was not his fault. Moral of the story I will never set foot inside this establishment nor reccomend it. I will in fact discourage anyone from spending a dime there.
The family and I had a great time on Mother's Day at Mac's Grill! We stopped at a spur of the moment while we were looking for food in the area and were pleasantly surprised at our discovery. We were seated immediately, and the food came quickly. One snafu was that the soup and salad for one of our meals didn't arrive until after the steak, and only when we asked about them.Other than that, it was smooth sailing and the food was great!
Man this place is fantastic!! Love love the shaved prime rib sandwich (Wyatt Earp)with sweet potato fries!! Oh man the cinnamon dip they give for those fries was wonderful!! We have found a place for a wonderful meal!! You sure made this Georgia girl happy!! We will be back!! Oh by the way my husband's hamburger was out of this world!! 5 stars does not do this place justice!!
T's shirts read "where the locals eat" and you can feel that vibe in the atmosphere. The bar scene is big, noisy and full of the local ladies crowd with their glass of wine mixed in with the craft beer bunch as they have a decent selection of Maine brews. Food is consistent, comes out in a timely fashion and the service is on point even with the labor shortage. Its a no frills kind of establishment but that doesn't mean its lacking anything either, its good, fresh and comfortable like your favorite meal on your couch in your yoga pants.
I'm not really into the theme or decor, but heard this place was good and it lived up to it. The staff, waitress, and food were all great. We just wanted a good meal at a nice quiet spot, and it was decent. No complaints
The worst part at end! This establishment appears to have some very good food from what I could see. I wouldn't know as the bartender who has been with them for some time apparently has something against a patron wearing a Thin Blue Line hat. We ordered a drink and menu, before spotting hat she took care of our request, we were then obviously and purposely ignored as the people to our left and right sitting at same bar ordered, received food, asked for to go containers and got thier tabs. My girl is 100 times more patient and forgiving than I and she was absolutely steaming. We did not get a bit of attention until standing with coats on then asked if we wanted to order with a damn smirk on her face. I told the host as I left this was the worst ever experience in a restaurant, someone followed me out and asked what was wrong. We explained , they apologized BUT. I was told if I called manager would talk with me. So, I called and was hung up on. I called back same issue, we have a CT number. I redialed while driving 15 times until host answered and said manager will call you back. Well now weeks later no call back. A perfectly good restaurant and what appears to be great food completely ruined for bring political and anti-police rhetoric into a service business and for me the worst part is no follow up to smooth things over from management. Terrible.
The fresh French fries they are known for were as greasy and overcooked as th fried haddock. Large portion but who wants to finish the plate when served like this? My 16 oz ribeye was ordered as medium rare and served as medium. Very disappointing for a frequent diner at this restaurant.
My husband and I stopped here for lunch today, the food was amazing! The best haddock dinner I've ever had anywhere! The service was awesome, our waitress was by far the best we ever seen! Her name is Keegan, friendly, full of smiles, and was fast! I absolutely loved the salad dressing, I ended up buying some! We will definitely be coming back, thank you Keegan for making our visit so great!
Wow...this is an awesome local place that serves amazing local fresh seafood and mouth watering, fall off the bone ribs with crazy good BBQ sauce. And of course local brews on tap.The haddock was unbelievably delicious...and the ribs were some of the best I have ever had.Huge fan...can't wait to come back and try more dishes.
