On a historic home tour in Louisiana, we passed through Thibodaux, southeast of Lafayette. Recommendations for dinner sent us to Spahr's Downtown on West 4th Street. It's an intimate place on a not-too-busy street with super friendly people, a dozen tables, a counter and a bar. My husband ordered the crab cakes with grilled broccoli. I had the grilled red drum with steamed broccoli and white rice. For dessert we shared banana's foster (banana bread in a sweet sauce, topped with vanilla ice cream). That desert was only available for a month, as sweet specialties rotate through the year. All the dishes were fresh and well seasoned and the banana’s foster was sublime!
Everything was great. Only issue was it seemed like the chef forgot to season my wife's food and doubled the seasoning on a raw steak. We talked to the manager and she understood, she replaced our food for us. My steak came back tasting the same. Talked to the manager she was wonderful and kept apologizing, wasnt necessary as we understand things happen. Waitress, manager, atmosphere,wait time, and cleanliness all 5 star services. Just wish the steak tasted a little better.
Staff is super friendly and great with recommendations. Bloody Marys delicious. Best food I've had since I got to Louisiana in December. I wish it was next door! And even though it is not...I will still try to make it there every weekend that I can!
We travelled to Thibidaux on Fat Tuesday from Northern Arkansas. Found this place by accident. OMG! We probably ordered half the menu.. voodoo seafood with penne pasta, seafood platter, overstuffed shrimp po boy... bayou bread and mini crab cakes. Reasonably priced and absolutely wonderful! If we are within 50 miles of here again, we will drive the extra to visit!
After being told it would be a 45 minute wait. Tops. We waited for over an hour and a half to be seated. Then waited too long for food. The waitresses and manager could be seen taking selfies instead of bringing food and drinks out. It was completely unacceptable. I was looking forward to this place but was shocked to see how unprofessional it was.
I had the shrimp platter with onion sticks and a cup of gumbo. Everything was delicious. My husband had the Catfish, fried and peanut butter pie and his was all delicious as well. The peanut butter pie was fabulous. The service was very efficient.

Wonderful food, brilliant staff - came in a party of 25 from a funeral and they bent over backwards to accommodate us. Fresh, hot, delicious seafood platters served fast with great sides and drinks brought to us efficiently and from a bunch of friendly pleasant servers. Could not praise them enough. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Food was great but better order ahead of time. Wasted over 40 mins of my lunch break to get some red beans and rice on 1/31/2022! It was like they had forgotten about me! 5 stars otherwise...
Stopped in for a Bloody Mary and had a plate of the best fried oysters I ever had. Definitely recommend this place.
