This was our first time getting Italian takeout here in Louisiana since moving from NY. Unfortunately, we were truly disappointed. Pasta was way overcooked. My chicken picatta had absolutely no color or flavor and almost just tasted like a chicken breast dipped in flour and cooked. I gave them 1 star because the bread and tiramisu were decent. I know I had high expectations but this was a very sad excuse for what Italian food should be.
We were looking forward to this Italian restaurant with great views but found the food to be so disappointing. My sea scallop “special” with a spinach cream sauce was drowned in tasteless white sauce with (?) frozen chopped spinach on overcooked pasta. Similarly, my husband’s veal entree was way too saucy and tasteless. The “roasted” broccoli appeared steamed. We found out that the chef is not Italian which should not matter but it was an expensive and really disappointing meal.
We were super excited to return to this nice restaurant but the food has gone downhill.. My scallop special $$ and my husband’s mediocre veal were swimming in so much sauce- it was sort of gross. I was so surprised that the spinach in my “special” sauce was frozen & tasteless. We loved our waitress and there is a pretty view but that’s about it.
Food was good. The cream sauce with the spinach is awesome. I had eggplant parmesan and it was even better the next day. Others had chicken marsala, veal marsala, shrimp alfredo and all enjoyed the dishes. We had the mushroom too.The decor is a bit worn down. The entrance and chairs in the front a stained and worn. Service was good. The website menu is different from the one in the resturant.
Very good food and very friendly employees.Chicken Cacciatore excellent. Very generous portions.Artichoke Dip and bread rolls great. My whole family was extremely pleased with everything we had. Most definitely try this place.
Had the eggplant parmesan which was good. Desert well just look at the picture.
I'm a regular diner at Joe's over the past 5+ years. Always good food and service. Food is served incredibly fast for a restaurant like this. Great pizza and Italian dishes. Free rolls are sinful with the roasted garlic oil. Oil is on the app menu for $2.99 I think, and worth every penny.Features: Since the NFL declared that the china flu is over I pay no attention to flu safety practices...I'm sure Joe's is a clean and safe place to Dine.
Food is not great quality and the new servers seem to get ignored when there is an issue, which makes for bad service. I tipped our server well but the bartender gave us house wine but charged for the premium that we ordered and took forever to come. Pasta is definitely not fresh. The free bread was the best part of our $109 meal.
We had a wonderful time for my husband's 70th surprise party at Joe's restaurant. Joe and his staff were wonderful, helping us to insure this party was a huge success. The food is amazing , the service A+. Loved the way they rearranged the back part of the restaurant for the party. Thank you Joe!!The best Italian restaurant on the north shore.
Dining out at this level is an experience ....Our evening started with a casual friendly flare, got very uncomfortable and, thankfully somewhat recovered (ish). Our waitress was AWESOME.The bread knots are divine. The salty dog cocktail has the wonderful bitteresqueness grapefruit should impart. The rum punch was bucket worthy. The veal piccata was thin, not over cooked, light and savory. The mishap came with the dinner special, a trio tour of pasta Alfredo, lasagna, and, the pitfall, THICK pink- meat chicken parm (the chicken should be pounded thin and cooked to an internal temp of 165). Where things got very uncomfortable was sending the plate back to get the chicken cooked. A few bites of the Alfredo and of the lasagna were consumed but when the plate came back the only thing we got was the parm, not the balance of our Alfredo our lasagna. The owner was, well, quasi argumentative and it just put the whole experience off after that. Fortunately the waitress saw our plate that was returned to the kitchen so after about 10 minutes our Alfredo and lasagna were brought to us, and not just the balance of what we had not eaten but an entire replacement. Sooooo uncomfortable situation was turned around (ish). Sadly we still left with the lingering feeling that the owner was put off, which put a real soggy sock on our rare dinner outting.
