Our visit to Sam's Southern Eatery was fantastic! We were on a day trip adventure and could not have selected a better place for out lunch destination! The fettuccine alfredo was rich and delicious. The fried catfish and jumbo shrimp were the best we have had in years! The staff and management were welcoming and inviting. We will absolutely be back the next time we are in the area!
We have stopped here on our way to Florida. We stay in Shreveport because of Sam's. We were not disappointed on this trip. Our waitress, Kris was the best. We had a 1 year old in our group and she brought him crackers to keep him occupied while we ordered. It made him so happy. My daughter ordered the grilled chicken avocado sandwich and was very pleased with her choice. I ordered the catfish some grilled some fried. The grilled was a little salty but still good. My husband ordered the Philly which he almost didn't because he thought it wouldn't be good but he was so happy he did one of the best he ever ate at a restaurant. We would definitely go back again which we did on our return home we placed a take out order. My husband again ordered the Philly just as good the week before. I ordered the fried jumbo shrimp. The cocktail sauce kinda spicy not what I am used to but the shrimp was delicious. My son ordered the buffalo wings with mac and cheese and red beans and rice. He liked his also.
We ordered 6 shrimp, 6 oysters, and 2 sides for 19.99. We wanted them grilled so that is an extra $1. After placing the order online I got a call stating they were out of oysters could they substitute fish. I agreed. Brought the order home and there were 2 pieces of fish, 6 shrimp, NO hushpuppies, and 2 sides. In looking at the menu the 6 oysters/6 shrimp is the same price as 6 fish and 6 shrimp. So, we paid for 4 fish we didn't get and were shorted the hushpuppies. One would think we should have received a refund or at least the a comparable number of fish for the same price.
This is a busy place but plenty of seating. Staff very welcoming. Menu is not all fried food, you can get salad, grilled fish and shrimp and portions are huge. Our waitress, Janet was busy but made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely a good experience, will be back.
Come hungry! Grilled or fried- fish, shrimp, chicken-they have it all plus southern delights...turnip greens, fried green tomatoes, Mac & cheese, red beans & rice, fried liver and gizzards (not a favorite of mine but they have it), variety of cakes and more.Share or take some home...it's worth it! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING FOOD! Was here this weekend for my 30th ate everywhere but here. Decided to try it on the way out and my ONLY regret was not trying this the first night. Best decision made this weekend was going to Sam’s. Kristen was phenomenal she was so sweet and knowledgeable recommended the best food to order (did not disappoint at all). She honestly was amazing and had the best sense of humor the whole experience was amazing!
First time in Louisiana,had the shrimp,fish and chicken with some fried green tomatoes. Now this is what I am talking about,great food to brag about. Love it,if you are near,stop by. No pictures cause I was too busy eating.
Sam's was recommended by the hotel ai stayed at. The prices are excellent with a wide variety menu. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent.
I had a friend that came down from New Orleans for a dance competition. They wanted to go get something to eat Friday evening. I told them about Sam's Southern Eatery which had a variety of foods. They enjoyed the food so much they wanted to back a second night.
Wow! We stopped here by accident and discovered a gem. HUGE portions, so get ready to eat! The shrimp are enormous. We had the 6 shrimp 6 fish platter that came with 2 sides and shared this. Highly recommend for travelers!!! I'll definitely be stopping in each trip through now!!! Loaded a pic, but it doesn't do the meal justice. It was very good!
