Great food and atmosphere. Best brunch spot around for sure. Friendly staff to where it almost feels like family when you are there. Don’t let the exterior fool you, clean inside as well as the restrooms. Parking is a little tight but not much of a problem as there are two sides to park on. Inside and outside seating. They also serve popular brunch cocktails along with their own signature cocktails. Definitely a place to stop by to enjoy.
The food was delicious! The beignets were the best. The only reason I gave this place a 4 star is the service. Your name is called over a speaker when your order is ready. I thought they called my name so many times. Weird there were so many J names on this day. The first time I went to the counter,, the server told me that I was up next, but then they called at least 3-4 names after that. I probably wouldn't have thought they were calling my name had they not told me that I was next. By the time I went to the counter for the 3rd time thinking they called my name, there was a hint of an attitude. Strangely enough previous reviews raved over the service, but not the case with my service. If I were to eat here again, it would definitely be a to go order.
Been here twice. 2019 and now (may 2022). Firstly the Jambalaya was perfect. However, the fried Shrimp Po Boy fell short to the high expectations I had after my great 2019 experience. The difference between the two? The bread. The 2019 PB was served in a white/white fresh sub that honestly tasted like it was out of the oven. The 2022 was served in a brown/white sub that was not fresh at all. The bread should be the most important part of any sandwich, no matter how good the ingredients.
Visitor from out town. Food was really GOOD the Cole slaw had a lasting NEW taste. Make great health snack. The hush puppies has extra ingredients and crispy soft taste. Tried their shrimp and fish. The fish had a light color crisp crust just right. The shrimp had a small amount of crust; next order I would request for just bit more of the tasty crust on shimp. The red beans and rice was so good with nice taste in the juice. Most meals comes will fries; but from healthy next I time would love to switch fries for the unique tasting Cole slaw instead. Food is not greasy but hot, quick. For the outside patio would suggest cleaning the seats and tables and checking seating area for trash. But Marilynn's is worth more visits.
The food was original and delicious. Service was excellent and dress was casual. We had the Cajun biscuits and gravy as well as Swamp Grits. They were excellent and original. The beignets were top notch too. Bob the manager was friendly and walked around greeting everyone.
Not much to look at, a converted gas station. But if you want hot, tasty Louisiana cuisine at a very reasonable price, THIS is the place. Counter service, not real fast, a bit chilly on cool days. No ambiance to speak of. But the FOOD is spot on, whether it is the crawfish, the shrimp creole, the boudin balls, whatever. Your taste buds don't care what the place looks like.
Great food and great staff
Awesome had fun at mardi gra
EXCELLENT POBOYS!!!!!!! and nice coconut pasta(kinda tastes like Thai curry sauce)but watch out the fountain drinks were $3.50 each haha
Mac and cheese was very flavorful, but also very greasy... Soaked up several paper towels worth of oil, but it was delicious!! The desserts were the best part, beingets were fresh and crispy, bananas foster was boozy and a good contrast of hot and cold. I also got the crawfish etoufee and seafood gumbo. It was way too salty for my personal taste, but I think that is just a me problem as I am sensitive to salt.Would definitely come back for the desserts.
