Visited for the 1st time this week from San Antonio Texas. First of all if you go during lunch you will be waiting for a table. However the wait is 100% worth it. You are greeted with a smile and hello from the staff. The food was amazing.....Shrimp Buster is highly recommended....Homemade onion rings yummy....Thank you to the staff for welcoming us in to your home with such wonderful southern hospitality.

This little gem offers an amazing selection of seafood, unique sandwiches—all in a classic old school atmosphere. From the eclectic collection of bottles and memorabilia behind the bar, to the nostalgic photos of various patrons through the decades. Staff was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant was filled with both“regulars” and “out-of-towners,” all of whom received the same friendly welcome from the staff. I enjoyed the fried catfish dinner with hand-breaded onion rings (don’t judge, I was on vacay). It was delish and was served with Herby K’s legendary “secret sauce.” My son enjoyed a soft shell crab sandwich with onion rings. Truly incredible food, served in a quaint, out of the way spot in old downtown Shreveport. Without a doubt worth the trip from Virginia. Put Herby K’s on your “must try” list for your next visit to Shreveport.

Went home for a visit last weekend and was my first time there. Did we all get our beer at the same time.. No. Those frosted glasses are very heavy! Did it take awhile to get our food.... Yes. If you want fast, go to McDonald's! Our waitress, Tahlor had an actual personality. She was great! We ordered he fried oysters, shrimp, crab claws, frog legs, and catfish special. It was all great!

Herby K’s isn’t about the food, as much as it’s about a dining/cultural experience. Go there and eat the food and then decide for yourself if it’s food you love. We personally will always visit this establishment when in Shreveport, but ours is as much about the experience, as it is the food. Pulling up to this truly “hole in the wall”restaurant, we both knew we were going to “experience” something. Kristina the GM, and Jim, her right and left hand man, greeted us upon arrival. From that moment on, we lived a true, Northern Louisiana hospitality filled couple of hours. As we burned through the menu, we had the pure pleasure of becoming educated as to everything associated with this 80 something year old icon. From the eclectic but authentic LA staff, the history of the building and its founder(s), the ups and downs of a restaurant’s life, to just watching the truly diverse patronage, this place has it all for those wanting the full culinary package. Insider info says you may wait an hour or more to get in, or you may be blessed, as we were, and walk right in and sit in the front row. Again, this review is more for those looking to experience something that seems to be fading away. Catch this beauty while you can, what you eat is your choice, but if you don’t bag a piece of the potentially elusive bread pudding, you’ve basically clowned yourself. Peace and blessing to the Herby K staff.

As a long time fan growing up in Louisiana but originally a Texans born native. I have to say after a long 25 years this place is amazing. Awesome drinks, service, and food. I highly recommend any one from near and far to check this hidden gem out.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I've lived in Shreveport my entire life. People highly recommend it so I finally decided to visit and I wish I hadn't. We decided to sit in the indoor patio area and although they had a heat lamp it was still cold in that area. The customer service was lackluster, the bus guy and the server got into it over who was suppose to serve us our drinks in front of us. Once the food arrived I was further disappointed by the taste, bland no seasoning on the fish and shrimp, cold undercooked fries. Other customers were saying that it used to be a tasty little spot, but it seems those days are gone.

This place is amazing!! Definitely a go-to!! The Pink Flamingo drink and Shrimp buster was on point! Taylor made the experience so fun!!

A must see and eat experience! It feels like you are stepping back in time 50 to 60 years. The gumbo, whether you want seafood or chicken and sausage, is some of the best I've ever had. They tell me the roux takes an hour or more to make. All their ingredients are fresh including the seafood. In addition to the Cajun dishes they offer hamburgers and other hot sandwiches.

A delicious time capsule. Enjoyed every savory morsel of food. Thank you.

Had to try this while in Shreveport. It's a bit of a drive from the downtown area and there isn't much around here anymore, but trust me it's worth it. The place oozes character from the outside and once you get inside, you know you've come to the right place. Words can't describe it. We had the Stuff Crab Dinner and the Shrimp Buster. They were both excellent. Service was great, very friendly, had a great conversation and he got a recommendation for another character place on our journey in Jackson MI in a few days. A must for anyone who likes the hole in the wall establishments. Highly recommend
