My hometown El Chico closed a long time and the beef nachos were always a favorite. My mom and I were craving them and they were EXCELLENT! The beef nachos on the appetizer list are plenty big to have as a meal which is what my mom did. I had the lunch chicken fajitas and the meat was so tender and juicy…probably the best fajitas I’ve ever had. We were given plenty of VERY HOT tortillas (not the standard 3 most restaurants give) to go my the cup of Chile con Queso (spicy yellow cheese dip) that made the meal and all around outstanding belated birthday lunch date.
Wait staff evening shift has a hard time focusing on their jobs, so do not expect good service. They also have not figured out that burnt sweet cream is awful and they will continually bring out hot skillets/plates to burn it regularly enough that it is all you can smell the entire time you are there. Food is bar food quality but Mexican'ish....
April 2022 the El Chico’s in Shreveport Louisiana. The hostess was very rude continue to help other patriots in the restaurant that were there after we were seated . She been there for a very long time and should know better it’s a shame that a family owned restaurants are going down the tube. What’s so sad we paid for food and bad behavior won’t be back.
Like many restaurants, this one is understaffed. I waited maybe 10 minutes for a table at 12:30 on a weekday. Once I was seated, someone immediately served me chips and salsa and very quickly afterwards the server cam to take my drink order. I was able to order my lunch timely. My food came quickly and it was very hot and made fresh.I will be back soon.
The service was as bad as the food. They put carrots and cabbage in my taco salad which was burnt and cold except for the tomatoes they were warm. The waiter took our order took 20 min. to get a tea and coke. Brought our soft corn chips with butter but not a plate. Didn't see him again until the food came out and didn't see him again. Had to get the hostess to get taken care of.
Ordered the Tortilla Soup and it was horrible. It was a bowl of tortillas, avocado and heaven knows what else. Then they poured a red sauce over this mixture. I sent it back. It was horrible! Our waitress was slow. When my friend paid with $100, it took approximately 20 minutes to get change!
Just go the extra quarter mile to Posada's, you won't regret it. You'll pay the same, but get better food.The menu offers little, with one of the worst lunch menus I've ever seen, and absolutely the worst in Shreveport-Bossier. If you enjoy waiting forever to get food that is no better than Taco Bell, this is the place for you. My favorite part was when they forgot how to plate hard tacos, resulting in them becoming soggy.My reviews are usually not this harsh, but this was such a lackluster experience. I used to truly enjoy this chain, but they've made some poor choices in the last decade.

Food and service where great. My family and I really enjoyed the food. The quesadillas were a huge hit with not only me but my kids as well. The only issue we had was that the bathrooms were very dirty. Almost like they hadn't been cleaned in months. 5 stars if they would have been clean.
