Awesome and superb food
Amazing shrimp and crawfish and the sweetest people that work there!
Awesome Creole cooking!! Highly recommend!!
I recently had lunch with a friend at this "blink and you will miss it" cozy little restaurant. As soon as you walk in and you are greeted by "Mama Gail" you will know that you are in good hands. It's like walking into grandma's house and you just sit down and relax for a spell. Sweet tea with cane sugar and lemonade with cane sugar are both ready to go. All that is missing from this perfectly southern experience is a big front porch with rocking chairs. You are in great hands and great conversation with Mama Gail. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to try something new and very much local, someone wanting some good southern food, and/or someone wanting to embrace a slower time that many folks have hurried to leave behind. If you are on a time crunch for your lunch break then perhaps get your food as takeout because this is an experience, not an "in and out fast" type of place. Not if Mama Gail is around. If you have a little time to kill and you need something positive that feels like warm sunshine then go have lunch here. You will leave Creole Cafe with a full belly, maybe some leftovers, some good conversation, and you will be immediately planning your next visit. The food is good but Mama Gail is what gives you the full southern experience that you can't put a price (or time limit) on. My friend ordered the fried fish meal that came with French fries. I ordered chicken and dumplings. Both were good and both were good sized lunch portions. We each took leftovers with us. In fact, I ordered one of both meals to-go for my family for later. The fried fish was good and crispy. Same with the French fries. The chicken and dumplings were excellent. Maybe a bit too salty was the overall consensus but the flavor couldn't be denied. Plenty of flavor! Not just salt but actual flavor. Most chicken and dumplings are a bit on the bland side and you end up adding salt and pepper. This chicken and dumplings is nothing like that. Unlike any I have had before and I will definitely be ordering them again soon! Hopefully when I return I will have time to sit down and share stories with Mama Gail but if I'm in a hurry then I will just get some chicken and dumplings as takeout. It will be good eatin' either way. Please give this hidden gem a chance if you haven't already. You will be glad that you did and I can promise that your day WILL be better if you get to spend your lunch with Mama Gail! Trust me on that. Please excuse my cell phone pictures; I am not a photographer, just someone trying to grab a quick visual.
10/10 would recommend, the food is great!
Great food and great people!! I enjoyed the Fried shrimp and fries as well as a bowl of seafood gumbo!Everything was beyond amazing! I highly recommend checking this place out! SUPPORT A LOCAL BUSINESS!
The owner and his mom are so friendly and the food is absolutely delicious! I had shrimp creole and a homemade praline.
Finally got to go here! This is seriously the best and freshest Cajun/Creole food I have had in northern Louisiana. Great prices, great food, and great people! Please visit them. It is well worth it.
My coworker and I came here to check the place out after hearing much about it from a friend. The fried fish with etouffee was absolutely delicious! Crispy fried fish salad just right and the best etouffee I have ever eaten! The shrimp balls were very flavorful and who doesn’t love a pistolette? It is small, and the menu is limited, but what is on it is delicious. Run my a mother-son duo who are just lovely.
