What a fantastic place. Laid-back atmosphere, impeccable food, outstanding waiting staff.
Service was great, no rushing us up. Friends meeting after a couple of years.
Everyone at Toups was phenomenal on customer service, and the portions did not disappoint at all! Go for the fried turkey necks
Toups NEVER disappoints! I come here often and it is consistently awesome! This time though...new menu items!!! I was torn between pork belly hot dogs, fried quail over corn maque choux, and smoked duck fried rice. Look, they are ALL decadent but this is not a place where you should shy away from the meats. It's a meatery, afterall. But if you do, I recommend the lump crab salad!!!! On this trip, I opted to sit at the bar as I was a solo diner. I will say that Toups is not one of those restaurants that tries to corral single diners to the bar. I've eaten there many times at my own table, which I always appreciate. I decided on the smoked duck fried rice. This dish.... PLENTY to share! It's fried rice with blistered shishito peppers, mushrooms, fried egg, tender duck, topped with crispy duck, and drizzled with Japanese plum aioli and sesame seeds. I had it for dinner. Then I fried an egg this morning and popped it over the leftovers for breakfast, and I STILL have enough to enjoy it as a side with another meal. This is perfect on its own and perfect for sharing. Staff was on point, recognized me as a frequent diner, which I love. It's like coming home when I walk into Toups. Highly recommended!
Food was incredible and portions are large. Service was top notch. Bathroom cleanliness was the only opportunity for improvement.
Delicious food! Loved the charcuterie board. The meat was yummy to try, makes sense!
Toups is always a pleasure. The dishes are creative, the portions are perfect, and the cocktails are always amazing. This was âjust lunchâ. Chicken and fish sandwiches came fast. Crab claws starter gave us plenty to munch on. NB that lunch kitchen closes at 3:00 for a little known happy hour 3:00-5:00 with specials on small plates and cocktails.
Overall good food and service. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the food. We ate outside on an area in front of restsurant with a shady tree above.
There are so many good restaurants in New Orleans. Toups Meatery was on my list to try for quite some time. Made a reservation online for my birthday and was so looking forward to an awesome lunch experience. That was far from what my wife and I got. Walked in with no one at the host station. Eventually a young man walked over, stood there and looked at us saying nothing. I gave him my name, he never checked the reservation, just grabbed a couple menus. The place had only 2 other parties there and he wanted to sit us very close to one of them. He seemed miffed when I wanted a different location. Service never got better. We ordered the Meatery Board. When it came he mumbled what the items were on the board. Didnât understand much of what he said. Some items on the board were good. Most were just interesting. Got the chicken sandwich. Chicken was over cooked, and dry. The sandwich was not dry because it had cooked, soft greens on it. Sorry but the sandwich needed crispy lettuce. I wanted to love this place but unfortunately it is a one and done. Iâve seen Issac Toups on Food Networks show called Kitchen Takeover. This is where he travels the country helping failing restaurants. Issac needs to spend time in his own restaurant before it fails. Hate to say it but I would NOT recommend this restaurant at all.
I let the staff surprise me with my dinner, and they did not disappoint. PS buy the kitchen a beer!
