Saw the Hot 8 Brass Band here and it was the biggest highlight of New Orleans by far and finishing the gig on the street was exactly what you want
It’s a cute environment with New Orleans vibe. We ordered Cuban sandwiches and jambalaya. The food was good. The service was medium. There was no air conditioning.
This venue books great shows and the sound quality is good. But the bathrooms are gross and the drinks are expensive. Generally a good vibe though!
Good food and ambiance, but the bartender/food guy’s attitude made us leave sooner. We asked if they we’re having any live concerts that night and the answer was “Does it look like we’re having it?”, which is of an inexcusable rudeness. The woman serving beer was not the kindest person either, so we decided to go somewhere else for the night.
Honey!! This off the beaten tourist path place was amazing! The food ( chicken cheese steak and the sauce was perfectly seasoned! FLAVOR bomb in your mouth ) Gator Balls, Burger was delicious ???, The music, burlesque show were absolutely Fabulous. Can’t wait to go back ! Bought the T shirt and had everyone to sign it. Came to see Hot8 Brass Band on a Sunday night. Arrived at 9:30 and ordered some beer and food. Staff was great and food was too. Try the Gator sausage! The band went on around 10:30 and played for about an hour. Then they took the show outside to second line for a few songs. It was a spiritual experience. I would highly recommend. They hung around after the show and were very approachable. You could tell they were excited for things to be getting back to normal in New Orleans.
We were excited for the night, being from MT and the thought of the live music / brass band. The food was alright but the server was dismissing and rude. Couldn't take the time to answer a question about the band. This was at 10:15 when the band was supposed to have started at 10. Finally by 10:45 we were done waiting for the band. Very disrespectful of people and their time. Too bad but a very negative experience.
Seeing this place rated 4.6, I was optimistic. And now, I’m just disappointed. Ordered the Hot 8 Sampler, wasn’t told they were out of gator balls until the food was paid for and served. Okay, no big deal. The bacon and cheddar beignets were over salted and tasted strongly of beer, with a sweet note. I’d give them a 2/5 on their own. The meat pies and crawfish pies were okay, but not 4/5, more like 3/5. Also ordered the slow roasted pulled pork sandwich with the hand cut fries. Again, it was just disappointing. The pulled pork tasted like what you would get out of a supermarket mass produced tub of pulled pork, and there was very little on it compared to the size of the sandwich. The roll it was on was fresh and tasty, so overall the sandwich gets a 2/5 for that. The hand cut fries were over salted, and burnt.The bartender was super friendly and quick to take our order.
