A local tour guide recommended this place to us when we asked him where he thought the best BBQ shrimp in New Orleans was, and ho boy was he right. We liked it so much we came back the next day for the weekend fried chicken and waffle special. All the food was excellent, drink were on point, staff were lovely. Highly, highly recommend!

Great food. Great service. We ended up here after a few local people recommended it.Food was exceptional, mouth watering and tasty and filling. The hot sauce (homemade) is what I needed. Solid drinks. Big portions. Definitely shareable (but I am glad I didn't share). It's about a 1/2 chicken.I can't recommendsl it enough.

Unfortunately we do not have any good pics of the food... all pics were partway thru eating... but we tried a new place tonight - #HighHat. And everything- start to stop , top to bottom - was amazing. We ordered the boudin appetizer that came with toast tips, a stone mustard, and their own home made pickled cucumbers (NOT to be confused with PICKLES.) We then shared a Reuben & One Eyed Bacon Cheeseburger with their home made pickled okra, cole slaw and homemade fries. Every bite was spot on. The place itself was spotless. Every employee was welcoming, kind, and attentive. We even witnessed the hostess go outside onto the street to pick up litter from there. There was literally no suggestion we could make to improve food or service. We highly recommend trying them out the next time you're downtown.

Great neighborhood restaurant! We love the catfish, pimento cheese, and all the sides. Perfect for lunch or causal dinner.

The servers are nice, but the food has been disappointing. First visit, stool the food to go then threw it away. Second visit, breakfast food super disappointing. Waffle dry, hard & cold. And I can’t believe my son ate part of these burned pancakes. This is not your go to for quality food?

Happened upon this place on our way to another burger restaurant in the same vincinity. My wife had the High Hat burger and said it was one of the best she's had. You can tell its fresh and handmade. I had the oyster poyboy and it was very tasty. The fries seemed handmade too. Great spot, would definitely recommend.

Catfish perfectly coated, served with homemade pickles, hush puppies and the most glorious mac & cheese. Even the tarter sauce was perfect creamy deliciousness. House made hot sauce on each old school diner table and I was in heaven. And yes the Life of Leisure cocktail YES YES YES

Had a great meal at the High Hat on Friday (March 2022). Sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the crowd and chatting with my husband. The food and service are always excellent. We each had a garden salad and then shared the Cuban. Delicious. We got there at around 11:45 am. They get super-packed around lunchtime so if you don't want to have to wait, go early or after the lunch rush.

We went for dinner on fried chicken night (Tuesday) so that is what we got. You get four generous pieces of chicken with a cornmeal coating and one side dish. I knocked a star off because why not include another side dish? The portion size is small, grits, etc. are cheap, and it would go a long way toward making it seem like a complete meal. We shared the gumbo and it was delicious, as well as piece of the Ponchatula strawberry pie. Yum! The staff was friendly and went above and beyond, so refreshing in these post Covid days when a lot of staff is untrained.

Lots of reasons why this remains out favorite neighborhood restaurant! The food, the cocktails, the desserts, the servers, the specials. Leave stuffed and delighted every single time. If there is a single weak spot it would be those times when people are lined up waiting to get in ahead of us, lol!
