They don’t seem to be too friendly to be people that are visiting.
I grew up near here and always wondered about this place. When I was old enough to go I wasn’t disappointed. Love the atmosphere. I met most of my close friends here through the years and can’t wait to see it again when I’m back in town.
Best dive bar around
The phoenix bar is a very warm welcoming place to all. The upstairs is welcoming to the few male customers who brave it. The bartenders are all nice. And the store is convenien.

I have had a working relationship with the Phoenix for years now and I can’t say enough good things about it. It provides a wonderful indoor and outdoor space for the LGBT community to socialize and relax, with very fair beverage pricing. Additionally, their store has a variety of merchandise like leather, toys, apparel, and other supplies. Easily my favorite gay bar in New Orleans!
Very dive-y but not at all pretentious. I loved it.
