One of Algiers best kept secrets. Always great to stop by the Old Point Bar and hangout.
This place has a stellar open mic night every other Wednesday. The regular musicians are of high quality, many of them gigging musicians who play here for the comradery of other musicians. The regular drummer is an ex-professional jazz drummer. The emcee, Kim, is a very congenial fellow who welcomes all comers. You never know what to expect. Sometimes excellent jams spontaneously occur. I even saw a guy expertly play the theremin one night. Not sure why this is listed as a restaurant. It is strictly a bar with a good variety of beer and drinks. Great dive atmosphere (except that the men's bathroom may be too dive).
Really authentic pub. In Algiers, across from New Orleans. Beers and Irish cider on tap. Happy hour 4-7 pm.
Well actually the place is not what is friendly, it is the people. We visited to get to know some of the folks that were very fond of my brother-in-law. We were not disappointed! Good drinks and people. Don't go if you don't want to interact with the regular patrons.
Low key Algiers establishment, across the street from the levy. Often live music. Friendly folks.
Had so much fun here. Nice, laid back crowd when I visited on Easter Sunday. We watched the game and had some brews. Very pleasant esthetics at this little location, nestled in a very beautiful, old-style, southern location of New Orleans called Algiers Point. Loved it!
Little live music on weekends. Have a beer , relax indoors or outdoors. Just unwind and enjoy this time of year in old Algiers without the crowds in the city.
Great casual bar. The bartender called me sweetie, the beer was cold, and it was a good place to while away an hour on a rainy day.A short ferry ride from the hustle of the French Quarter.
Very nice neighborhood bar, pool table and darts plus live music on certain evenings.
A great neighborhood bar!
