BBQ Shrimp was conceived at Pascals Manale. Liuzzas has made it more approachable on a poboy. It has been a staple on New Orleans menu's for half a century? This is a great way to get the delicious dish without having to peel them yourself. All though I am down for that. Take the trip. The Roast Beef and Oyster Poboy's are what I get 50 weeks a year. The 2 weeks of Jazz Fest, BBQ shrimp is my dinner.
great food, cold beer, good service
This place was packed. The servers were nonstop. I suggest the BBQ shrimp po boy. Tons of shrimp.
Ordered Take-out from here last week--Shrimp & Oyster Po-boys. The joint has a nice leisurely neighborhood feel. The food was ok, but didn't seem in line with the price (about $60+ for 2 sandwiches, 2 sides and a dessert, no drinks). At that price, I'm expecting "great", but it didn't meet that bar.I'd be inclined to give another try, but I'd make it a point to eat there, rather than take it out.
It was delicious! Friendly staff. Clean-I’ve never seen a bar so clean! Had the creole gumbo and the BBQ shrimp poboy. Wow, my arteries are clogged and I have enough for lunch tomorrow!
Awesome food, awesome neighborhood! Had the oyster po boy and it delivered on everything I wanted. Feels like a place not catered to tourists, and that made it even better!
Lovely hole in the wall place, recommended by a local. There is something on the menu for everyone and everything on the menu is fantastic. The BBQ shrimp poboy is *~chefs kisses ? ~* we also got the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, it pairs amazingly with their Cajun remoulade. This is a MUST when it comes to eating in NOLA!
Dropped in with a buddy since we were in the area. He got the burger which was really good. He ate it fast and we both made comment that the fries were really good. Home made style fries are my favorite so there are no complaints there. I got the BBQ Shrimp poboy. It was good, I like the flavor and there was nothing at all wrong with it. But it was not at all what is advertised on the menu. The shrimp are not grilled and the sauce is not a bbq sauce. It's more of a dressing. If I had known this, I would've gone with the burger. The staff was very nice though and the whole place was very clean. Given the bar is right there in the main eating area, there was not a stale beer smell that normally comes with a place like this which we also appreciated.
We ordered the signature poorboy, gumbo and fried shrimp poorboy. Everything was great, the gumbo was the best I have had in New Orleans, the shrimp poorboy amazing, the signature shrimp poorboy flavor was great however I am from Florida and had no idea it was smothered in sauce, the flavor and texture of the shrimp were great however, my preference In a sandwich is to have my bread dry.The service superb the staff is so nice and accommodating. Will be back before we leave.
This is a nice little spot. On the small side, with eight or so tables and seating at the bar. We had bowls of gumbo (delicious) with a side of garlic bread. We may return sometime to try their po'boys.
