Beautiful Bar with an incredible history.I was told this bar served as a pirate meeting place and hangout where they had fun and planned their next hiests, and if I recall correctly it is in New Orleans heighest location, and is also USA's oldest opened and operating bar serving its clients since 1772.When I walked around town I actually saw this bar in a variety of paintings attesting to the long history of this curious bar.
We hit Lafitte‘s twice while in New Orleans. Loved both visits.Great day time vibe there. Perfect place to catch some shade, sit under a fan and beat the heat the old fashioned way with a cold drink in your hand. Voodoo daiquiri is potent but really good.Night time - half of it turns into a piano bar. It’s a halfway point for a lot of the ghost/voodoo tours, so good chance you’ll stumble in here!
I ran into this spot just walking around and fell in love with the vibe.First, it’s super dark and you have to watch your step throughout the entire place.Second, the piano singer takes all kinds of requests and brings a great vibe to the bar.If I had to rank my experience in New Orleans, this is top 5.
Only place for the best Hurricanes. Better than Pat O'Brien's. Great ambiance on the quieter end of Bourbon. One of the oldest buildings in NOLA, not to be missed. The bar tender had a great attitude too!
Great experience, awesome bar tenders went above and beyond for my guests and me. Great atmosphere with music and an eclectic feel. The ambience was perfect, low lighting and gas lamps, give it an old world feel that is unmatched. Definitely grab at least one drink here you won't regret it!
A really neat bar on Bourbon St that shows the history of the area. You can almost imagine a blacksmith shop from that time. Apparently it is also frequented by celebrities when they are in New Orleans. A piano player with seating is towards the back of the place. A must see on your visit.
The history of the place is amazing...one of only a few French Quarter buildings to survive the fires and a $ laundering hub for Pirates!!! Inside was old and dark and fairly crowded. Hard to see at night when we went. The star knock off was for the attitude of the bartender...maybe he was having an off night...? It is a place worth knowing about. Not sure about it being enjoyable otherwise.
I LOVE THIS BAR, coolest spot on Bourbon! Hard to choose a ‘best bar’ in Nola, but this surely would be on the shortlist? Oldest apparently!!! coolest vibes on Bourbon, great mix of locals and tourists. Drink prices more than reasonable too! Best visited at night when it’s at best simply lit! Go there hang out, and steel yourself for a walk through the craziness that is Bourbon street!
This is a great place to have some great adult beverages, enjoy some piano bar music in the evenings and spend time with friends and do some people watching. The staff is fantastic. The candle light ambience at night is a nice vibe. Regardless of how busy it gets, the bartenders hustle non-stop.This is our favorite bar hangout in the French Quarter.
Charming bar! I went to try the voodoo drink. It was delicious but hard, so be careful and eat something first!
