I've paid my dues to become a Titanium Elite member. When I asked for an upgrade during check-in as part of my benefits, I was told no suites were available but I was able to find it on the Marriott app and book it with cash. After checking with her manager, she offered to upgrade me for $150 a night. This doesn't make sense, I didn't spend 77 nights in a hotel so I can pay for upgrades when it's part of the benefit. Strike 1. Did she really not see the room or was she just making something up? With my family waiting around, I didn't want to deal with arguing so I told her to just use my Suite Upgrade certificates but was told this needed to be submitted 3-5 days before check-in which didn't make sense. A quick internet search shows that I can use this up to 2 pm on the day of checking in so I wasn't buying it. Strike 2. Clearly, that was made up. Strike 3 and beyond : - Found short curly hair brushed to the corners of the desk chair ? - Fridge was not working - Shower water barely had pressure - No hotel information provided As a Titanium Elite member asking for an upgrade with a room clearly available, I was being asked to pay for it. I don't know what kind of sham operation they are running but I would not stay here again.
What a great hotel. Perfect location right next to Bourbon but not too close. We had a corner king in the 28th floor with a view. Rooms are modern and comfortable. Jaime the bartender is awesome. Yes, drinks are expensive but so is everything in NOLA. Zero complaints
The room had a bad smell and the room darkening shade was cracked. Breakfast in the Executive lounge was worse than the Fairfield that I recently stayed in. The eggs were runny and the overall offerings were poor. Also ther was no evening service in the lounge and we weren't compensated for it. The gym was nice but the pool is slippery and dangerous. This hotel is simply not up to JW standards for the expensive price and I would suggest staying at the Courtyard or Marriott down the street
My wife and I had a corner suite with a king size bed and a view looking out into the French Quarter (windows on two sides). The suite was spacious (with a "foyer" that gave an additional feeling of room), with a mini fridge, desk area, and an armoire with plenty of space for hanging and storing our clothes. The bathroom was also well done, with a stand up shower that had ample water pressure. There were some extension plug "blocks" on both sides of the bed giving us plenty of options for plugging up electronics, a very welcomed amenity. As I have shared before with other Marriott properties, LOVE that the TV allows you to sign into Netflix or Amazon Prime directly. Lastly, there was understated touches of elegance throughout, like the full headboard and two robes in our armoire. Within a minute, you can leave from the front of the hotel, be on Bourbon Street and enter the French Quarter. While you may want to stay actually inside the French Quarter, I personally appreciated having a bit of distance from the music and revelry when it was time for bed, while still being on the edge of the fun. There is no self parking at this hotel, so we had to rely on valet parking (about $50 a day). While we had a rental, we never ended up getting the car out of the garage and walked to all the places we wanted, although keep in mind I had a conference and my tourist excursions were limited! There is a daily free breakfast that we enjoyed, but it's technically only for Executive Lounge guests with an elite level of Marriott Bonvoy Rewards. Cafe Beignet is just outside the front of the hotel, but go early -- I showed up at 720 am ten minutes before they opened and there was already a line. (It was well after 8 am before I even placed my order.) There is also a pool but we didn't check it out. While the room itself was one of our favorite hotel experiences ever, the thing that truly earns the five stars for this property is the customer service, The lobby staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating. The real winning moment was when we were having issues with our room's air conditioning. I called downstairs, and within 15 minutes, a person was at our door. After a few minutes, the issue was fixed with a smile. To have something resolved quickly and pleasantly is a rare treat nowadays. I highly recommend this hotel!
I visited here May 2022 My and had no disappointments. My stay here was wonderful! My room was very comfortable with all amenities. Room and hallways were quiet and very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Work out room very nice and staff were there to sanitize equipment. The most great thing about staying here is that it is close to everything. I most definitely stay here again when I visit again. This hotel does not disappoint.
Service was atrocious. We missed room cleaning because the door key was out of batteries. It took 3 alerts to the front desk to get the batteries changed and they missed one of the appointments they set to come do it. We had no way to get in back to our room for over 13 hours. Our room was finally cleaned the following day until 5 pm after we had requested service of the front desk 5 different times. Trash in room and a dirty catering plate wasn’t taken. The pool deck is ridiculously slippery. I fell getting out of the pool and injured my leg and elbow. While I was at the pool for around 3 hours I saw two other people slip (one almost fell in to the pool), another person slip and fall to the ground and another person said they had fallen the day before. What an enormous hazard. I have the bruises to prove it. Elderly folks and kids should legitimately avoid. Hotel is a nice location and the interior is nicely decorated. Bed and linens are comfortable.
Thanks to Annmarie i got to enjoy my birthday trip. Her hospitality really made check in easy and special! She so graciously offered to give us a view and access to the concierge lounge during our stay. Every single employee we met along the way was extremely helpful and hospitable. The bar staff was great and very knowledgeable about different things around the city. The room was very clean and beautifully decorated. I will always stay at this property when in NOLA. Thank you all for a great getaway!
I have traveled and spent many a night in JW Marriotts. This was indeed an embarrassment to Marriott. Service and amenities were very much subpar. It did nor compare it to the regular Marriott in New Orleans which moved to after a short stay in the JW. A few examples. I asked for two pillows extra in my room not only once twice but three times. Never did I receive them. I told the staff downstairs that there was rice that was embedded in the carpet spilled from some gas from the elevator to our room. They only cleaned it up after I reminded them three times. The breakfast was atrocious. The hors d’oeuvres included pretzels in a granola bar. Do yourself a favor and stay at the regular Marriott instead of wasting your money and time at the JW.
Very beautiful & modern hotel. From the moment you check in, you'll be pleased w/ the staff & property. The JW is in very close proximity of EVERYTHING downtown NOLA has to offer. This was my 3rd trip to NOLA, and I stay somewhere different each time, but I'll be sure to return to this location. Have Fun!!
I was able to tag along on a business trip to New Orleans. It has been a moment since I've been to The Big Easy- but this hotel and this stay reminded me why this city is so fun. As for the JW Hotel- this is now a go-to hotel for NOLA! The Canal Street entrance is by Cafe Beignet (as seen on "Best Thing I Ever Ate"), a close walk to Harrah's, and will get you right into the hustle and bustle of Canal. The pool is nice- you'll find it by walking through the gym. Even better the water bottles are free! There is also a Nespresso Machine in the room for when you need coffee.
