The line moved quickly, but actually getting the food was the long wait. Food was good - shrimp taco, crawfish beignets and oyster creole.
I wouldn’t recommend this place with a 5 foot pole. We got fried pickles, fried soft crab, fish tacos, and my bf ordered oysters. The pickles were what seemed to be days old. I ordered fish tacos but they gave me shrimp tacos. The shrimps were tiny and kinda chewy with no flavor other than kinda fishy. The fried soft crab looked like the display they had on the front counter. It was super greasy, salty and gross. My bf had a couple oysters said they were good but then got a rotten one and had to spit it out immediately!! I could smell the rotten oyster and I'm not sure how he was able to hold it together cause it smelt disgusting. He would not recommend going there for oysters. The staff wasn’t friendly at all. Very curt to those who had questions at the oyster bar. The lady taking the orders was in a hurry and irritated with those who were ordering. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Spent good money here for bad food.
Why doesn’t Google have a negative ratings option? This were by far the worst and most overpriced tiny portions of excrement I have ever had in New Orleans. The seafood quesadilla was promptly thrown in the trash due to the overwhelming smell of rot. The shrimp creole consisted of 4 smallish over-fried whispers of shrimp atop a soggy recently-defrosted bed of frozen spinach atop of a toast of yellowish-brown mystery-sauced white bread. What the hell did I just eat?Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
Food is pretty tasty and the girl who takes the orders makeup is always pretty. Crawfish bites and fried pickles were what I ordered. Also tasted the crab claws, seasoning was good. Took off one star because they don’t give you to go containers, trays or anything. Just a basket of food lol. I guess since they have to be so fast paced it makes it easier on the crew
Came here with a group of 12. Host was incredibly rude. When I had asked her to repeat a name she said I was not calling your name in the most condescending manner possible. Overall they messed up three of our groups orders, the crab claws are a ripoff, and my friend had to wait an hour and a half for six oysters. Never would recommend. All these 5 stars reviews flummox me. I almost think they lay too have all their had reviews removed.
Real fresh oyster so delicious
Magnificent shrimp boil and fried pickles!
Raw Oyster was good a bit on the smaller side, still delicious and fresh. The chief special of shrimp and Jalapeño grit was missing much of the kick and I would pass on it.
First time in New Orleans and J's Oyster Bar & Seafood in French Market is Awesome.... The staff was great and the food is delicious. Bonus.... Freshly cooked... Great place to Eat....
The shrimp and jalapeño grits were absolutely delicious.
