Arnaud’s did the rehearsal dinner for our son’s wedding and it was perfect! The food and service were fantastic and the venue was beautiful. Caroline was a delight to work with and made sure everything was done correctly. The turtle soup and bananas foster were a huge hit!
Sunday brunch was an elegant experience at Arnaud's. We loved the jazz quartet - they were excellent musicians! Service was impeccable and the food was superb! Would highly recommend this for a bucket list experience!
This review is ONLY for the bar. We go there early, so they let us visit their very small Mardi Gras museum upstairs. It consists of some costumes worn by Germaine Cazenave Wells, a queen of 22 carnival balls - that is it. We got excellent service at the very comfortable chairs in the bar area & enjoyed the escargot appetizer. Although the escargots were on the small size, they were very tasty.
I really wanted to love Arnaud’s. It’s one of the oldest, finest, and most upscale of New Orleans restaurants. It drips with history, along with Antoine’s, Gallatoire’s, and a few others. All the waiters wear tuxes, and the runners and other servers wear tasteful black attire. The menu contains many choices, which makes it tough to decide on an entrée. After being seated, we were promptly brought water and bread, but waited quite a while for the waiter, Kyle. Kyle didn’t hang around to explain anything, just took our drink orders and left. The runners brought our drinks, and they were very cordial and friendly. The next time we saw Kyle was a long while later when he came to take our food orders. We had the chicken and andouille gumbo, turtle soup, shrimp Arnaud, gulf fish amandine, gulf fish meuniere, and Brabant potatoes. I ordered Brabant potatoes because I had seen Emeril make them on TV years ago and have wanted to try them ever since. The food was OK, but nothing more. The exception was the Shrimp Arnaud, which was very good – cold shrimp in a tasty remoulade sauce. Both the turtle soup and the gumbo were watery. We had had great gumbo and turtle soup the evening before at another restaurant, and Arnaud’s versions didn’t compare. Both our fish dishes were nicely fried, but the creole meuniere sauce on mine actually tasted a bit like canned brown gravy. The Brabant potatoes had no noticeable seasoning on them, making them taste like cubed French fries, which isn’t bad – just not what I had expected. We saw Kyle one more time, a long time after we finished our entrees. He basically dropped the check on the table and walked away. Needless to say, we didn’t opt for dessert. The bottom line for Arnaud’s is, the atmosphere, décor, and most employees are pluses. Kyle and the food were minuses, so I am giving it 3 stars.
I've been to NOLA many times but never to Arnauds, so was really looking forward to going back in time to tuxedoed waiters and traditional dishes. We started with their oyster combination with five diff prepared bivalves--delish! Moved on to Crawfish O'Connor and Drum fish w/crab--- oh wow, delish. Finished with Bananas Foster prepared tableside. Need I tell you how good that dish was, and the show before was cool. Treat yourself to Arnauds, you won't be disappointed.
Did not have reservations, arrived around 6 pm was able to get a table in the bar area. Our server, Megan, was delightful! Had 2 Arnauds salads, shared escargot (yummy). Hubby had chicken dish and I had crab cakes. Over the top--Good!!!! Magan also suggested a jazz place "Frizelles to hear jazz afterwards. Did not disappoint!
As I always remembered. Omnipresent service, fabulous gumbo and remoulade sauce with shrimp like it’s supposed to taste. Deserves the reputation.
The food is 5 out of 5 and the service is better. The only negative as we were in the main dining room was the noise. The tile floor makes it very loud. The other dining rooms are much better. The bread is hit, the meals perfectly cooked and charmingly plated. And you must get desert….the Strawberry Arnoud is to die for.
While we enjoyed the food. The noise level is almost unbearable making it hard to have a conversation. The shrimp appetizer was good. My gf had the pompeo that she enjoyed. I had the quail that was delicious. For desert I had the strawberries and ice cream. With tip came to $144
We expected an amazing New Orleans dinner. This was a favorite place when we lived here years ago. That has now changed. The shrimp was fresh and the food had flavor, but it was WAY overpriced for the flavor it had, and especially the portions. Gumbo was just ok. The Caesar salad was served with anchovies on top with no warning. It made my wife sick and she sent it back. I’m afraid this was our last time here. The Court of Two Sisters, Brennan’s, Muriel’s are all better. Don’t waste your money here. Sorry, it’s just not that good.
