Very fancy place, so expect the food and service to be outstanding! You must get the bread pudding soufflé!
We came to the Commander’s Palace for my birthday brunch and had a lackluster experience. All of my food was sorely lacking in flavor. All I could taste was an overwhelming amount of salt. My friend is a vegan for health and allergy reasons. We spoke with staff multiple times about her very limited options. She ordered according to their recommendation and still ended up being served dairy (whipped cream, crema, and butter). They promised her a farro dish with carrots, cauliflower, and green vegetables. Instead she got a tomato and cucumber salad with buttered croutons. She stopped eating early and still got very sick after we left. Acqua was outstanding at doing damage control. She was an excellent server. But, not our main server. Despite us being nice, calm, and gentle, our main server was very flustered and stressed out. The overall experience was the low point of our trip to New Orleans. Save yourself time and money. Go to Brennan’s instead! Five star experience at Brennan’s!
The single best restaurant experience I have ever had. I enjoyed the house salad and my husband had the turtle soup. Every single expectation was met. We were in from out of town and it was my husband’s birthday. Commander’s Palace really does live up to its reputation in customer service and quality of food. I was absolutely blown away. The bread pudding truly is amazing.
Food was outstanding, fresh, innovative and everything one would expect. Server staff was absolutely the best. Our server, David, was outstanding and checked on us without being overbearing.
Group of 8. Was a little hesitant to come here because of the dress code. After talking to wait staff in town, I felt more comfortable wearing a coat to dinner which I haven't done so in a long time for a "normal dinner." Salads and soups were very good. I had the veal and the wife had the filet. Both were the tenderest and most flavorful I have had in a long time. Wine list binder was overwhelming but I was able to figure out what we wanted. You have to order the bread pudding and strawberry shortcake when you order your meal. Just to note my wife does not eat fish. She took a bite from another diners fish dish. She said she would have been happy ordering it as well. Stunned by the bill. We all had drinks, first course, entrees, deserts and three bottles of wine. Came out to $250 per couple that included the tip. I thought they may have left something off the bill but it was all there. Service was impeccable. I will definitely come back here again when we come back to NO.
Always continues to be a Special Place to Dine when visiting New Orleans. The Food , Service & Hospitality always continues be Excellent. The complete Staff is Outstanding.
Food is always wonderful here and the service impeccable however we were seated in an upstairs room that was packed with people. Conversations escalated around us to the point my husband and I could not hear one another. We sat there waiting on our food, which was a bit on the slow side. Fine dining, stretching the courses out works if wine and conversation are flowing this was not the case at our table. What was supposed to be a romantic evening was ruined by the non existent ambiance. We had dressed in suit and tie, black dress for our anniversary, why we were sat up there is beyond me, they have other more quiet dining areas. I will always go back and I will always request a different dining room.
Straight out of the 1920's. Service is simply the best I have ever had (better than at some Michelin Starred restaurants). It has ben years since I have had (and seen) co-ordinated service, with one server per seat. Amazing. Food is pretty spectacular too! They deserve their reputation as one of the top dining spots in N'Orleans. Wish I did not have to make reservations 3 months in advance though...
Went there with a large group of friends (12) and had the most amazing time. The food, the band, the atmosphere, the service. Truly the best.
We went to the Commander’s palace for the Sunday jazz brunch and we loved it. The food and the service was excellent. The atmosphere felt upbeat like we were at a party. The service was wonderful. Commanders Palace is a New Orleans must visit. We opted for the 3 course dinner which included soup/salad, main dish & dessert. The decor is fabulous, The restaurant has been going since 1893. Set in the lovely garden district. It is well worth going for a walk after your jazz lunch. It is also very near to the cemetery which is worth visiting. Reservations are a must of course.
