Good food along Decauter St.I've been eating here off and on for about 10 years. They are always good. I had the Gumbo and the Red Beans and rice this time.Well made, balanced flavors. I wish I could fix my red beans that creamy. And the Gumbo roux was really good. The tab was kind of high. Turns out that if you get the sausage with the beans it literally tacks on $12. Not sure about that. But live and learn I guess.Service sucked. It's wasn't pack, just our waiter wasn't that attentive. Oh well, welcome to NoLA.
Cafe Maspero is a must when coming to New Orleans. The price was right and the portions were huge. Six of us shared 3 fried sea food platters. We were stuffed and couldn’t finish them even sharing with others at the table. I’m not a fish/seafood fan normally but would order the gulf fish again in a heartbeat. AND the hush puppies were prepared perfectly. Our waitress took fantastic care of us. Wish I could remember her name to give her props. If we weren’t already planning to try different cuisine every night I’d eat there the rest of our trip.
Had breakfast here twice, very good and service was very good too. On the main road near the paddle boat and the hop on hop off bus
Excellent service. Excellent meal. I had the Taste of Maspero, all the things were delicious. My boyfriend has the pasta jambalaya and I had order envy. It was delicious in a homemade sauce that I wish I could make. Oh my!
We sat more than 10 min waiting for a server. We watched the all chatting behind the bar. French onion soup was very good. Appetizers of calamari and gator bites both came with fries. They were just ok. Calamari was a bit chewy and breading is thick and crunchy. Server never checked in with us during the meal and another long time to get the bill. Alot of bad habits among the staff such as picking/playing with hair and face and not washing hands after. Repeatedly saw server with food in hand heading to table literally stop and chat for a bit to another employee. Bathrooms had alot of trash on floor and tables almost blocking the entrance to go in.
We had a great breakfast at this Cafe. Staff were very friendly and attentive, and the overall service was very good.. The Omelette was delicious and we would certainly come again. Location is good and we would certainly eat here again.
Food delish! Short staffed so are at the bar, and bartender's service was top notch! So intrigued by the infused vodka!
Tired and hungry this was the first place we found open, taken straight to our seats without a word. Plenty of choice in the menu, our server was cheerful took our order promptly after bringing us drinks. Food arrived after a reasonable time but the fries were just warm although the seafood was hot, perfectly cooked. The included salad salad did not arrive so we had to attract the attention of the server to ask for the salad, she gave the distinct impression that you would only get the salad if you asked for it, there had been no intention of it being served! Plenty of empty tables but huge queues formed outside while we ate. It would appear that they were restricting access due to staff issues.
We got off the Trolley and walked across to CAFE MASTERO, had only seen good reviews. Our issue was not with the food or the location (we sat by open doors & enjoyed a glorious breeze). Our issue was with the Service... Chrishonda M (per the receipt) treated us as an inconvenience in her day. She was rushed & distracted during yeah encounter, and it was NOT crowded... She never returned to the table, except to leave & collect the tab... Our food was brought by a runner, so she didn't even check to see if it was correct. We had to get up, with our glasses, and go to the bar to get refills. All in All, a miserable experience that will ensure No Return by us. The Grilled Chicken Caesar salad & the Grilled Chicken hoise salad were fresh & well prepared. The iced tea was fresh.
Standard New Orleans fare, by which I mean pretty much fried everything. Caesar salad was little more than chopped up lettuce with some weird tasting shrimp. Waitstaff were pleasant, but if it t to get served (note: we were not there at a busy time) we would likely still be waiting. Kids chicken fingers, average salad, and a pastrami sandwich added up to $55. Not even remotely close to with it.
