Ate breakfast here two days, great ambiance. Quick service. One day the beignets were light and fluffy, the next heavy and well done. Great place to while away some time relaxing and people watching.
We loved the atmosphere and rare sounds of jazz (yes, on Bourbon Street!) at this beautiful patio area, so we were excited for our first beignets of our visit. It seemed to have taken 15 to 20 minutes to get. And they were overcooked and so large that the inside wasn't cooked right. We were disappointed but went to the competitor the next day and got our fix, understanding what the excitement is all about in NOLA.
...on the vaunted vastly overrated living-on-history Cafe Du Monde, we moved on to here in search of the good old fashioned puffy air filled beignet. This place ain't it. Impossible though it seems, they are worse the Du Monde's because they are bigger and not fully fried leaving nice doughy mess in your mouth. Staff's attitude is, well, attitude. Another one off the list for good.
Do not waste your time! The staff is awful toward customers. The place is over-run with rats. A decorative saxophone statue in a planter, has a large colony rats living under it. Rats come out just prior to close and can be seen running back and forth inside after close.
A must stop any day except on Tuesday and Wednesdays they are closed. Come enjoy the live music and sit amongst the statue legends. All outside seating.
All reviews I read insisted on going to Cafe Du Monde to get beignets. We got beignets at Cafe Du Monde, Cafe Beignet, and Loretta's. Loretta's was the best and Cafe Beignet was second best. There are multiple Cafe Beignet locations around NOLA - this one is open the latest and located in the back of Musical Legends Park on Bourbon street. It has a cute courtyard with live Jazz, lots of greenery and patio seating.
The beignets were considerably larger than those at Cafe Du Monde, even though they were more doughy, they were still very good. It is a nice little spot on Royal Street.
We’ve been there twice because of the beignets and ambiance but absolutely not for the staff who is not sympathetic: no smile, even no word when they serve you. Go there for the food and music, that’s it !
Great place, amazing vibe, but just okay food and not a proper way to prevent mosquito and bugs from joining your table. Overall just go place, with live music.
Lovely patio area with lots of seating with live music. Such a great vibe — beignets we’re delicious (only wish you didn’t have to order 3 at a time)Cajun hash browns breakfast was OK, very simple but fresh. Definitely a perfect spot to grab a table + some small bites and a cold drink and enjoy the “show”!
