People literally formed a huge line at our shower to get cake. It all disappeared, and many people didn't get to try it because we ran out. Super happy with the taste and the design. 10 out of 10 would order again from you guys. Thank you!!!
First off, I want to say that it was an amazing experience despite some hiccups. This business and bakery is a jewel in the crown of NO. The way they accommodated my 1-year-old, who has an egg allergy, was beyond amazing. I live almost an hour away and needed the specialty vegan cake within a week's notice due to recently finding out my baby had an egg allergy. It was hard to find a bakery that could accommodate me locally, but we wanted a nice-looking soccer-themed cake for him to smash on his first birthday. First of all, the price was EXTREMELY reasonable for the quality of the cake and it would be hard to find somewhere as competitive. The employees were polite and helpful. Unfortunately, there was a mixup on the date I wanted to pick it up and when I arrived it hadn’t been decorated. However, one of the bakers came in from her home to finish and then the owner personally delivered it to our home in time for our son's party. To say I’m satisfied is an understatement. Also, as someone who has never had a vegan anything, this cake tastes FANTASTIC! If you need a cake, get it from this wonderful place. We will definitely be using this place for all my son's future birthdays.
Ugliest cake I’ve ever seen! I ordered a custom chocolate cake for a 50th birthday party. What I got was a poorly done, sloppy cake. No effort was put into that cake whatsoever! Not at all what I ordered. The owner never spoke with me, but insisted that I got what I wanted. Her only offer was to refund the $5 they charged me for decorations that were never done. Still waiting on the refund. That cake was not served at the party. Absolutely shameful. No response from the owner to date.
Wonderful local experience. Went for breakfast an early morning. Had each a breakfast sandwich and ice coffee. And took pasties to go. Everything was so good. Also nice to sit outside and have a chat with the owner and other guests. A real local gem in Bywater.
Stopped by before heading home from Jazzfest 2022 week 1 and SO glad we did! Had a great conversation with and a mini-tour from Alton - you’ll never meet a better human. Had myself a slice of the berry Chantilly cake for breakfast (it exceeds its reputation) while my wife had a croissant breakfast sandwich and a scone. We’ll definitely return soon.
The crawfish bread and breakfast gumbo we had this morning were amazing. Brought home a wonder bar for the cravings later!
i have been here a handful of times now and i LOVE it every time. it has such a quaint and neighborly vibe that can’t be found many places. it’s also a quick and easy walk to the river which is nice. they currently have all outdoor seating and occasional bands will be playing as well. i also reallllly enjoy their chantilly king cake!
The bakery is absolutely amazing. We visited during Mardi Gras, so we tried a bunch of different King Cakes, all of which were delicious! Our favorites are Spinach and Artichoke and Crawfish, and Chantelle and Cheeaecake for the sweet ones. Cannot recommend this place enough!
I stopped by Bywater Bakery first thing on a Friday morning since I had read about their bagels on their website and wanted to make sure I got some! When I arrived, I was told that they don't make bagels during King Cake Season, which though understandable, is disappointing, especially since the bagels are advertised on their website, and there isn't anything on there that specifies that this is the case. As a visitor to New Orleans, this (King Cake Season) isn't something I was aware of, so a note on the website would have been very helpful! In any event, I decided to purchase a slice of King Cake (they had one vegan option) as well as the Tofu Scramble. The Tofu Scramble is served over grits, which was a first for me (I'm from the Northeast), but was surprisingly good! The King Cake was DELICIOUS and now I'm tempted to go back and buy an entire cake.Overall, they have some nice options. The staff is friendly and clearly were hustling and working hard. It was clear from the line (six people deep right when they opened) that this is a fixture in this neighborhood and community; I can understand why! :)
They have so many different kingcakes. They also sell by the slice so you can try them all. Staff is super friendly. You can order whole kingcakes online to pick up so you can skip the line. The Chantilly Strawberry Kingcake was amazing and I also ordered a crawfish kingcake to try since I never had one. It's basically bread with crawfish flavored cheese inside. Reviews were mixed amongst coworkers. Those that loved cheese and bread loved it while the other was weirded out by just crawfish and kingcake together and psyched themselves out.
