Good fresh donuts for dirt cheap, fantastically tasty. I've never tried any of their other options, but the one thing I do wish they had is a slightly wider selection of flavors. They never seem to have anything with chocolate glaze, for instance. On the other hand, the donuts they do have are top notch, as are the cinnamon rolls.
This place is amazing. The regular donuts were fine, but the buttermilk drops are truly the star of the show. We got original and red velvet flavors. The red velvet is very good; the original is astonishingly delicious. The appearance of the place may be off putting; don’t let it. It’s open and the man behind the counter was so kind and friendly.I told my son that this bakery is exactly representative of New Orleans: it doesn’t always look open or even functional at first glance. But do a little investigating and you will end up with some delicious food and find friendly, kind, welcoming people.
I don't understand all the five star reviews. My breakfast this morning was horrible. I ordered shrimp and grits with a honey butter biscuit. The shrimp and grits were very bland, under seasoned and the grits were watery so were the eggs. The honey butter biscuit arrived with no honey on it. I'll never order from here again and I don't recommend.
Came to New Orleans on vacation. Wanted to try something different and glad we did. Got donuts and breakfast. Food was amazing. Way better than back home in Florida. If I lived here I would be a regular!
Buttermilk drop was recommended by a tour bus driver. Was definitely worth the bus trip there. Best donuts we had had in a long time. Will visit next time we're here!!
Got the pancake breakfast. Very reasonably priced. Food was very filling. I would come here again
Would love some tables and chairs one day to enjoy the big tree outside while we ate but it's a stop and grab kinda place! Great portions and the namesake donut is so creamy and smooth. People here seem like they are at home :)
The buttermilk drop is addictive these donuts are like crack. And yes I am old enough to remember MacKenzie's. The buttermilk drops are good by themselves but the donuts oh my God. If you like donuts this is definitely the place to be. They also serve breakfat, nothing fancy but the breakfast is not bad either. If you are looking for a nice little hole in the wall, with good food, black on, and good customer service, then this is the place for you.
Best sweet treat I had In a long time. Customer service was just as good. I did the traditional and the blueberry, it was so good I ate then both o the car ride home. I couldn't wait to get home
I recently just moved to the neighborhood so I was really delighted that I would get the opportunity to visit this wonderful place they have such delicious food. However what I do not like is that they have horrible service and the attitude of the staff is lackluster that it is very confusing when you walk in there as far as directions. That aside they tend to miss plate items simple as meat and bacon I have to keeping me waiting seems that I was number 16 and they call 17 18 19 20 then I became a little concerned they hastily put together my plate where the items did not match my order it was no due diligence in checking the tickets to make sure that the items match with the person actually paid for as if there’s no kitchen manager or it’s just a free-for-all back there seems I’ve worked in the kitchen previous places I can spot the weakness maybe they need a staff that’s more enthusiastic about working at such a fine establishment and if they can appreciate that maybe that whole family dynamic atmosphere that they try to create something that’s really a hindrance to the business model and with overall discourage people who want to return and spend their heart on money so that they can keep this black on establishment on and Poppin but as you can see this is why people say black on establishment suck and black on businesses suck and they don’t give you a type of business and respect that you deserve because Black people suck but as another black person I’m not able to say that because that means that I suck so what a predicament this put me in oh my gosh and bring back the turkey Bacon please.
