I love goat, so upon researching the reviews for Boswells it looked as though their curry goat plate would be a good choice. It ended up not being a good choice. Oddly it tasted the way a strong body soap would smell. Just to make sure it wasn't my taste buds being off I had my 3 friends who were with me try it, and they all agreed that it was not enjoyable or edible, that the flavor was similar to that of soap. I kindly went up to the older gentlemen behind the counter and showed him my uneaten plate, I let him know that maybe the cook had made some type of mistake with the ingredients for the day. That the plate had strong reviews online, but that day something must have been off. I was hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt. He just looked at me and my uneaten plate and said "okay". I then proceeded to throw the full $18 plate of food away in front of him. He just watched me and said nothing. I stayed with my friends talking at the table for another 30 minutes, not once did I hear an offer to get us another plate, a refund, that he had investigated what may have been the problem, nor an apology, the only thing he ever said to me was "okay". Any good business owner knows its better to lose a dollar than a customer. Customer service experience here is bogus. Not sure how a business owner feels taking someone's money for something they could not consume. Boswells lost 4 customers, my friends and I won't be back here. As for the rest of our order my friends all got the jerk chicken, they had no complaints but it wasn't to-die-for. I'm sure there are much more enjoyable and tasty jamaican restaurants in the city, and with much better service!!
The food was good, meat was tender and full of flavor rie and peas was authentic and the patty was good as well Definitely will Come back if in the area.
Delicious!! SUCH A TREAT to find this incredibly affordable but tasty shop. Keep chicken ....I can still taste the heat. Know the difference between spicy, hot, and heat before you interpret this review. Coco bread was great too, plantains, veggies. Mmmm.
Get an great taste of Jamaica at this casual restaurant. Cute, clean spot with really good food. I enjoyed oxtails, broad beans, macaroni and cheese, callaloo, and plaintains. Everything was great and I look forward to my return.
So I ordered the curried goat, calallo medley, rice and peas, and beef patty. It had great portions and the flavors were spot on. When I say everything was delicious, I absolutely mean it. I placed order via uber and the food was still hot when it arrived to me! I will definitely order from here again.
The Oxtails Were SUPER Meaty! Portions Was Well Generous ,Especially For The Price.. Not To Mention The Hospitality Was An Extra Treat.I Just Started Eating Jamaican Cuisine & I Haven’t Been Disappointed Yet. Im Excited To Try The Rest Of The Menu!
The food was awesome. I had 1 issue. I ordered rice and peas but only received rice however, the food was so delicious I quickly forgave them ?
The food was subpar, if that. I only enjoyed the plantain. Everything else didn’t seem authentic and was under seasoned. I was really looking forward to the coco bread but what I received was a slab of bread that looked just like Hawaiian rolls; not a taste of coconut in sight.Had to wait a while for food as if it was being prepared from scratch but once the food came, I was disappointed. The search continues for better Jamaican in Nola because Boswell’s is not it.
Food above avg depending on what you order. They get the nod because they do have a full menu when functioning normally. However, horrible service. Can’t even get an order to go over the phone. They literally wouldn’t cook what I was requesting and kept saying “we have 6 ready if you get here now. We won’t cook your order until you come in”! So I got smart and ordered meat Pattie’s online. What should have taken 10-15 mins, took over 55 mins. Ridiculous!!
All I wanted were beef patties but I made it worth their while and ordered a plate as well. I was told it would take 25 minutes. I come in, tell them my name and then waited an additional 45 minutes. When I try to get help they told me to hold on and served at least 10 other people. I finally get home and bite into my patty only to find out they're veggie patties.Nice people and good food but this isn't the only time my order was messed up.
