Corner bar with a very talented bartender equally skilled at mixology and conversation. AC made for a much needed respite from the heat, good drinks and company made me stay longer than intended.

Great place, very friendly, lovely music.

One of my favorite spots at the edge of the FQ. Their beer selection is top notch with some unique ones that you cannot easily find and the bar tenders are nice. Great drop-off or pickup location too for ride shares.

An old school bar. Sean the bartender is incredible. Happy and helpful (hard to find in New Orleans). Luv it

Comfy, dive bar type of spot. Great cocktails and HUGE beer selection with fair prices.

Good service and decent pricing

Fun local bar with a good vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating and a good selection of drinks. The bartenders are friendly and its right on the ouside of the french quarter so if you want to be close but not too close, this is a good place.

Lots of beers to choose from - and more than just IPAs. Not a bad hard liquor selection either.Ambience is a bit divey, but the bartender was a nice guy.

I've been, but I wasn't at black penny that particular day , I was next door at bsweets..

Ordinarily I don't do cans when I go out, but the carefully curated craft beer menu at this place is hard to pass up. And when you're done with your can it gets crushed, put in a bit, and according to the bartender handed over to a local guy in need who takes the cans to a recycling center and pockets the cash. Which is kinda cool, imo.The bar itself has great atmosphere-- it's welcoming but also effortlessly cool, with a strong 'dive' vibe but for adults. It's a nice break from the looming threat of tetanus and the touristy kitsch you see on Bourbon Street. When I arrived close to midnight on an unseasonably cold Sunday at the tail end of a holiday weekend, they were blasting metal but about an hour later we were deep in the Britpop new wave. The guys who work there are lovely-- full of great insights and stories about the area and the bar itself. Definitely worth a visit and on my list for my next trip out.
