Absolutely the best pizza I have had in years. Simple pizza with good, flavorful chewy crust and excellent sauce cheese ratio. Meatballs are to die for! Affordable wine list to boot! Will be back next visit to NOLA!
I read other reviews stating that their crust was the closest to Naples, and they were not exaggerating. It's the best crust and sauce I've had in the US. If you visit New Orleans and love pizza napolitana, this is a must try restaurant. You'll want to eat this pizza every time you visit. I will miss it so much. We had the the children's cheese, margherita, and diavola. Our favorite was the margherita pizza. I could eat this pizza every day.

The sauce.. the dough… uff. For a second I thought was back in Naples. You must try the Margherita, but be careful it can be addicting.
I spent the first 30 years of my life between NYC and Hartford. My favorite pizza is Pepe's, the marinara, from their New Haven oven. Ancora is the one of the best pizzerias I've been to. Ask for their italian liquers and house cellos, which might not be on the printed menu. Note their cheese selections, and that they are a salumaria.

Besides best pizza, they have superb pork meatballs, nocchi, salads, and a few other items. House made cured meats are excellent. Casual atmosphere with good service. Off-beat Italian wines and good beer. Great salads.
