We went to celebrate a birthday. We all ordered seafood that taste fishy. I never ordered crab augraten tasting like this. I have been there many other times with great food. None of us ate the food and told server. We were afraid it was bad. She said the seafood distributor was different. Our bill was over $100 and the food was a huge disappointment. Probably won’t celebrate again there.
One of my favorite places in the world. I love going here to get away from it all. Everytime I have lunch here I'm always here for a couple of hours. I'm never in a rush. The atmosphere the people very, very nice.
Peacocks know when lunch is served. We know this, because, as we were finishing our meal, one of them jumped up on the table and grabbed a piece of toast off one of the plates. Threw it to the ground, jumped off the table and at it. Left us alone after that. And, the meal, by the way was fantabulous! I had the seafood gumbo. Wife had the smoked turkey, smoked gouda, smoked bacon sandwich. We've continued to copy it ever since for lunches. I think the ambience at Cafe Jefferson though, adds another level of flavor to everything. Deelish!
Our local DeLorean group had lunch here. A very busy little cafe with great food and reasonable prices. All of Jefferson Island and Rip Van Winkle house are beautiful and well-kept. The gift shop even has a display of mastodon bones reportedly dug up on the property.
Such a cute place! On the water with great views and the food was phenomenal! My fiancé LOVED the chicken sauce piquant and I got the turkey pesto sandwich. Service was fantastic and the gardens were beautiful!
Amazing lunch. You must get the crab au gratin. It is one of the best things I've ever eaten. The restaurant is charming and the grounds are lovely. Our waitress was fabulous too. Look for the white peacock.
I have been going to Jefferson Island Cafe for the last 20 years. It is my favorite place around this area. That being said I have never been treated as badly by any waitress/waiter anywhere. She was very rude and made it clear she was the only one working inside. The green haired lady behind the bar was ugly with me because I went in to get two menus. Because she was angry with us they served everyone (that came after us) their food first. All we ordered was each a hot dog and had to wait over an hour. Everyone was served bread except my table. I must say the tables around us noticed how rude they were.It is not the customers fault that Jefferson Island did not have enough staff.
Not cheap but excellent food. The mufaletta is particularly good. Overlooks Lake Pigneur and the chimney in the lake. Look up Lake Pigneur disaster for a fascinating story. On the grounds of historic Jefferson Island salt dome and Rip Van Winkle Gardens. It is an excellent tour destination.
We got there at 2:15 and they were supposed to close at 2:30pm. We ordered a cup of gumbo and a muffaletta to share. The server was very friendly and the food was delicious! The Cafe' has a beautiful view of Lake Peigneur and was very clean!
We met family here for a holiday meal and it was a great experience. Macy was an excellent waitress. The food was good and the views were magnificent. This is a very nice place to meet and eat then walk the gardens and by the lake afterwards. Very nice, will go again. There is no open WiFi here
