Second time here, I HAD to come back. First time was years ago, my first time in New Orleans. This place is great! Food was soo good. Staff was super friendly and our server, Jacob, was on point. We were greeted upon entering and seated right away, on a Friday too (usually much busier). I highly recommend coming to check this place out!

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Been to the Galley before many years ago and the food and service were average. Just returned this past year and the food was good. Unfortunately, there is no one to greet you or seat you. Seat yourself. We sat down and waited to be served. Waited. Waited. Waited. Servers saw we were there. Another couple came in afterwards and were greeted. Drink order and food order taken. We still waited. Waited. Finally, we left. Probably will not return. Too many other better choices.

I paid for a seafood combo platter ($43.34). When l got into my car and checked it, it was a catfish dinner ($19.99). I had to go back in the Restaurant and wait about 15-20 more minutes for them to fix THEIR mistake. A rude lady, who seemed to be the owner, was angry at ME! She told me it was not their fault! They gave my food to someone else. The fried shrimp and oysters were small, but loaded with batter. They were almost too hard and too crispy to eat. I will never go back to THE GALLEY SEAFOOD on Metairie Road.

The most amazing seafood both boiled and fried! The portions are very large and the taste is always consistent. The Galley Burgers are delicious with some homemade onion rings. This place does NOT disappoint. They have something for everyone from chicken Parmesan to shrimp and grits.

For the most part the food was bland, they had these cheap french fries that my kids didn't want to eat. My wife got shrimp dinner didn't specify if it was fried shrimp or if we had a choice but that is what she got. I got the red fish "speciality dish" that was bland and tasted fishy and not fresh. What really kicked me in the gut was the $127.00 price tag. I've had way better for less. Also, if it's crawfish season and someone orders shrimp in Louisiana boil it please. Ive had a better Louisiana experience in Houston.

What a great place!! Food was amazing from start to finish! Robert our waiter, never missed a beat!! We will be back often!!! Highly recommend the crawfish!!

Food was excellent! They served us the largest oysters and the best boiled seafood I've had dining. They offer a huge selection of apps, sauté crab claws are a must have!! My only complaint is the cold draft from the window covering that was blown loose.

Great dive feel with large portions and what felt like mama's recipes. Busy and cozy environment. Fun waitress with high energy. Best Mac and cheese I've had.

The shrimp Po boy and platter were excellent. I've been ordering this as take away from the Galley for over 15 years and I would say that most of the time the staff and management have been friendly. I was surprised that they have doubled their prices since the last time I was there and I inquired to confirm my order was correct. My inquiry was met with hostility from the cashier and an immediate segue into a diatribe on her personal political views. I offered no critique or encouragement and continued the transaction. Apparently my lack of agreement was grounds for her to disparage my (political) views, to which I offered her good luck. I just want my 5 min transaction to be completed with courtesy? You have the right to speak your mind, but don't expect rudeness and poor customer service to be rewarded with repeat business. If I do decide to try this restaurant again, I'll ask them to hold the side of verbal abuse.

Summary:Great place to stop for a bite if your near. Seemed like an old neighborhood restaurant where you get a bunch of regulars, with some new comers.Good to experience the southern cuisine in its fullest flavors.More detailed review -Location:Located in the heart of Metairie, surrounded by residential homes and some business buildings. Great looking neighbor.Restaurant:Very straight forward building design, and easy entrance access. They have patio seating for the warmer months of the year. Clean place, well kept up. And my favorite was the atmosphere, it gives off an old traditional seafood restaurant.Staff & service:Friendly and attentive. I was greeted right as I walked in. They seemed very genuine with everyone they interacted with. Definitely not lacking any customer service values. They also held small conversations with the local customers. Truly makes you feel welcomed.Food:I enjoyed everything I ordered. Menu was straight forward and fairly priced. Didn’t wait too long in between my dishes. It was also my first time having craw fish, and it was absolute delicious. They sell it by then lbs separate from the menu.I recommend, and will come again.
