We have family in New Orleans and visit several popular places. For me, nothing beats R&O’s. I dream about the salad with olives until I can get back. My husband said they have the best roast beef sandwich anywhere. I love the pizza! Look forward to next visit - hope we can get back soon !

R&O is a little off the main tourist track in New Orleans, but it's absolutely worth heading to Bucktown to eat here. Their debris (gravy) fries are definitely contenders for best in the area and that's saying something. The restaurant has a good neighborhood family restaurant feel to it. They are always busy but still manage to get you seated and served without much wait. The menu has a variety of Italian and seafood options. Honestly I've probably eaten here 50 times and the Italian food is so good I haven't even made it to the seafood yet. If I had to pick a favorite dish I think it's the meatballs and spaghetti but you really can't go wrong with anything.
Diner food - spaghetti and deep fried pre frozen garbage. Pricey - lunch entree' averages $14. Had to get on the wait list and gave up after 20 minutes and looking at the menu.
I usually get their excellent roast beef po-boy but decided to try something different. I went with the Italian sausage pizza. The thick crust was chewy good. Lots of cheese with a tangy sauce. As always, excellent service.
Always was told how good the food is here and they were right. Started off with fried crab claws ( they give you a plate full), hard to get in restaurants now and days. I also had a muffuletta sub salami with pepperoni very good. Boyfriend had the roast beef, sesame seed bread and the roast beef was tender with tasty gravy. Definitely will go back. It always busy, but worth the wait.
We ordered 2lbs. of boiled crawfish, a bowl of seafood gumbo and some garlic bread for two people. It was all delicious and perfect amount of food! I wish the crawfish came with potatoes and corn, but no luck. The place was packed but the service was great and fast. Will definitely return when we are back in NOLA.
Great service and friendly atmosphere
I saw this place on Man vs. Food and wanted to try it out.Seafood gumbo was great, and has oysters, crawfish, shrimp, and okra as and real seafood gumbo should.The R&O Specialty Poboy is to die for!Tender hand shredded roast beef soaked in a debris gravy, topped with super thin sliced ham, swiss, lettuce, tomatoes and a thin layer of mayo. Will definitely be back!
