Good food, good service, would revisit.
My boyfriend and I visited Don’s today for the first time. I was really excited because the menu sounds amazing. The hostess were very friendly and the whole ambiance of the restaurant was nice. We were seated in a booth, the table was kind of dirty but I didn’t make a big deal of it. We started by ordering a appetizer and some drinks. The fried alligator was tasty. The lemonade and sweet tea was not. It tasted like they used tap unfiltered water to prepare it. Very unpleasant tatste. I ordered the seafood platter combo and my guy ordered the stuff fish. The food was not good at all. My seafood platter was not a platter, I only received 2 fried oysters, 3 tiny pieces of fish, about 7 frozen shrimp, 1 stuffed shrimp. I was not pleased. The stuffing on the shrimp was unappetizing, it tastes like stove top stuffing, no crab meat and no flavor. My guy also said that his stuffing in his fish tasted the same. The gumbo was not good. No flavor. I’m disappointed ☹️ I told the server I did not like my food. I guess he’s used to it because he just took the food and didn’t say anything else. Didn’t offer a replacement or apologize. Whatever though I won’t be returning. If you’re looking for fresh seafood this is not the place you’re looking for.
There were six people in my party. We were served in a timely manner with great service. I enjoyed the visit. My frozen Margarita was tasty. The oysters were the best!
Oysters were coated in cornmeal and seemed overcooked. I didn't complain since I have eaten here before on my last visit to New Orleans. Next time I would get the fried catfish.
We arrived early to catch flight out of New Orleans airport. Looked around and saw lots of places, but just chanced to pick this one among many others. So glad we did. The food and service were both very good. I had the Zydeco Tacos and enjoyed them. My wife had the Caesar Chicken salad. Our guest had the shrimp Alfredo. They both like their food. Prices were reasonable. If I were in the area again, I would choose this restaurant over the others nearby.
Mr. Austin was an excellent waiter and provided the best service. We tried the Jacked Up Oysters, Catfish Acadian made special (1 with blackened catfish and 1 with fried catfish on the side), and a brownie a la mode. The food is delicious and we made the clean plate club with our entrees. We’ve had better brownie a la modes so we wouldn’t order that again but everything else was yummy! We will be back to try other dishes.
The food is delicious! The drinks are well made. Very nice staff as well. I recommend the half fish half shrimp plate. With the price!
We visited Don's on 2/27/22. There were 2 hostess. The friendly one walked away to assist someone.The couple before us was told that there was a 30 minute wait by the other hostess. They decided that was too long and left. We walked up and the same hostess told us 15 minutes. We gave our contact information and sat on the patio. Moments later the same hostess came outside and said that they were not seating on the patio. I was puzzled because we were just waiting to be called. The other people seated just ignored her. It was about another 10 minutes, and we were notified by text that our table was ready. The same hostess showed us to our table. Our table was not clean, and there was a lot of trash in front of the table. I should have taken a photo, but I went to the restroom. We asked her if we could get the table and floor cleared. She said she would get it. My boyfriend asked her if it was a problem because she had an attitude. She said "No, we just have a party going on right now". The server came over. He miss ordered, but he corrected it right away. Our food was okay. The drinks were better. This was my first visit at this location. It just didn't go well. I normally go to the Lafayette locations.
This was such an amazing place, good people, delicious food, and chill vibe. Marcus was our waiter, he was very attentive, nice, and by far the best customer service. We ordered boudin balls as an appetizer that were a burst of flavor with a kick to it.The charbroiled oysters were amazing flavor. All employees were very friendly and attentive to their guests. I’d recommend this place to family and friends. Go see Marcus he’s WONDERFUL!
I ordered some food from Dons Seafood by Uber eats. Gumbo and shrimp poorboy. The driver delivered my food after making other stops... Wnen I received my meal ot wasn't at the best temperature. But the gumbo was delicious and the poorboy was good but the meal was not delivered at the best temperature. So the next time I drove to the restuarant to get my food. The atmosphere was down home sports bar feel with college basketball game on. The food was delicious...gumbo and shimp casedias was terrific!
