Our lunch stop after a swamp boat tour was at Jakes. We skipped the more limited (but good) buffet for the menu. The crabmeat au gratin was wonderful with a perfect baked potato. The gumbo, red beans and rice and stuffed fish were also very good. It is very casual but clean and the parking lot was full at 11:30 am - a sure indicator of its popularity. Service was good despite being busy.
After looking online to confirm if open & check hours. We arrived @11 on Tues 4-19 in 3 vehicles (a party of five) only to find restaurant closed! Y'all NEED to update the web! No sign posted either...On the other hand, we went to El Paso Mexican down the road, where we had a great meal! With table side guacamole, we spent $88 & tipped $15 to our server. Coming from Tenn, I was looking forward to Seafood. My hubby said that makes him NOT want to return!!
Took over 40mins to get a shrimp poboy I called in with a bowl of gumbo. Then when I get home 5 mins later the shrimp are cold. Also ordered a small poboy and charged me and got a large.I've been doing business with Jake's for over 45 years. This is the worst service I've ever gotten here.
Brittany is the greatest person, she ensures all take out orders are correct and is very customer oriented. Jake's is fortunate to have an employee of this caliber working at their establishment.
Great food. Great service. Staff was super friendly and made you feel like family.

My family and I have eaten here once a month for years. Today 10/9/21 this old woman crotchety told us to put on masks which is okay, we complied no problem.Then not a single waitress had on a mask, the lady who told us to mask up has her nose hanging out of the thing.When we left as paid up she told us to put masks on OUTSIDE.The food quality has dropped. My wife's gumbo had raw okra, on top of my son and I having cold food.This place has fallen so far.
After going to Jake's with my whole family since I was a kid I have to break up with Jake's... I brought 8 family members there tonight. The older lady behind the register said for us to wear a mass as we pass her. I sat there and watched her. She picked and chooses who she told this to. As I went to pay my bill she said put on your mask. I said I will when your waitresses wear one. She said they do. I said I've been here about 2 hours and no waitress is wearing a mask.The food was cold which was a disappoint. The last time I was there the hamburger steak was mostly bread crumbs. I have been a customer since the 1070s. I like Donna, and loved Anna, but I pay slot of money for cold food and a waitress not ... Who gets mad if she isn't tipped for take out orders. So the Partial fan won't be back
