An old converted house sets a charming atmosphere, and the wide array of options on the menu, featuring both classics and many unique dishes, makes this place a keeper. For brunch, it was hard to decide whether to go the sweet or savory route! Opted for the Redfish Benedict, one of the many takes on Eggs Benedict, cooked perfectly. The potatoes were baked instead of fried (fryer was out of order this morning), and I thoroughly enjoyed this alternative. The staff kept the coffee coming and gave us kind, attentive service. As an out-of-town visitor, I highly recommend LaLou and hope I get to come back and try some of the sweet treats some day!
We have gone many times. Find the waiters and waitresses very nice and friendly. Though I rarely see the same people working there each time we go. Now I know why! Today again a waitress that was very sweet and smiled saved our breakfast and it was enjoyable. However, the hostess or could be the owner I do see here every time we go could take some tips from her staff. This lady is not friendly at all. I will say if you happen to know this woman she is more then happy to move you right to the top of the list if there is a wait. Seen it happen many times but just shrug it off. Today was over the top ridiculous! We went at about 9 am there was NOT a wait. My husband let me out so he could park the car in the side lot where they rent bicycles. I went in and there was a table of 7 that a young girl was setting up. Here comes the rude hostess/owner that we see up front all the time. Of course this woman does not like the table the young girl tries to seat the 7 top. I laughed because I knew that was going to happen. She looks at me and says how many? I say 2 and remember there is no wait. She asks if the other person is here and I say he is parking the car and I point out the window. She tells me when he is here I will seat you. I said he is walking up the ramp and she repeats the line again. Seriously? If I was a party of 1 or party of 2 it would be the same table. She seats the 7 top and comes back to the hostess stand. She tries to seat another 3 top behind me and I say excuse me the rest of my party is here. I got the rolling of the eyes! She sits us at a 2 top. Unbelievable! My husband and I both agreed never again. We have been many times just the two of us and have had family join us when we were 6 or more. Not anymore! We never went for the owner/hostess personality. The food is good but If she is the owner then I can find another place that appreciates my money. Oh and today by the time we left and passing by later there still was not a wait. Hmmm wonder if others have caught on?
I had a very nice brunch at La Lou with my mother in law. The facility is clean with Friendly and fast service without the rush. I ordered the Lakeshore Drive scrambled egg breakfast and it was delicious. 5 star breakfast and lunch eatery in Old Mandeville with wheel chair ramp, outdoor seating, spacious and accessible bathrooms and high quality made in house dishes. ?
I recently discovered this absolute gem of a restaurant a few weeks ago, and I have been back several times since then. I have made it a point to try something new each time, and let me tell you...everything is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! And, of course, great food is very important when choosing a place to eat, but LaLou hits the trifecta, because the atmosphere is very inviting, and the service there is outstanding! Definitely 10/10 and I will be back (probably tomorrow morning)!
Awesome place for nice breakfast! Will come back, if we are around.
Lovely place, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly, efficient staff. Terrific food. We were there for lunch and had salads. They were large, beautiful and delicious!
Went here on a Friday morning, restaurant was not overly busy. My wife and I went in and stood, and waited, and waited, to be seated. Meanwhile, two other couples came in, and waited. One staff member said they would be with us "in a sec." We then stood there while several employees, 6 to be exact, (it was so ludricrous that I started counting), walked by ignoring us. The third couple that arrived walked out and went elsewhere. We were eventually seated. The food was pretty good for breakfast, but our drinks were never refilled without asking. Again, not that busy. If the service picks up to match the food it would be a good choice for breakfast/lunch.
I love the atmosphere, the friendliness, and the food! I especially love the LaLou potatoes, I ordered them topped with 2 eggs. Love their coffee and omelets as well too! Everything I have ordered has been delicious. I also like that seems to be in a historic type building right in old town Mandeville and it was within walking distance from where I was staying.
Great outdoor seating. Delicious food. Service is hit or miss.
No complaints. Liked the food. Kids loved the food.
