Amazing food. Brandon can whip up phenomenal drinks.
Tonight my husband and I drove a little over an hour to come eat here to celebrate my anniversary. We had a lot of restaurants to choose from, but this one had good reviews and the menu online seemed upscale.Overall the visit was alright. There was nothing wrong with our meal or experience, but it just lacked a wow factor that would justify the prices. The restaurant itself wasn't all that nice. There was paint peeling off the wall next to the table we were seated at, and there's no flooring in the bathroom (looked like a convenience store bathroom.) Also they had all the cups and silverware on a table in the center of the room which looked kind of tacky.Ordinarily I'd be fine with all these things, but when I am paying over $40 for an entree (and still having to pay $9 for a side, I just expect things to be much nicer than they were.We got the duck appetizer, the stuffed quail, the snapper, two sides of macaroni, and the brownie for dessert. The only thing we got that I feel was adequately priced and worth getting again was the duck appetizer. Everything else was pretty normal dishes with exorbitant price tags.
Me and my Husband went last night and enjoyed the food as always. The staff are the best and the service is awesome. We sat at the bar and it was probably the best service we have had in any restaurant ?? those 2 bartenders made me feel tired because they just kept going ? they are the best!
The kitchen nailed all the flavors, seasonings and Temps. The bartender creates some exceptional flavors and with a warm service staff it's been one of my favorite and most elevated dining experiences since moving down south.
This restaurant was so very good. They have a succinct but delectable menu of varying vegetable, seafood, meat dishes with inventive sides and salads. The cocktail menu features a good mix of top shelf and mid shelf spirits with bitters, herbs, liqueurs, spices and fruits. The only thing that's wanting is the dessert menu--there are only two options. You're bound to find a dish you love, though. Try the baked Mac n cheese, calla burger, Brussels and/or the calla brownie. So so good.
Amazing drinks, appetizers, and ambiance! Our bartender, Brandon, was on point with everything including the music selection!
Calla is a really nice restaurant and bar with a homey feel to it. They have a good selection of drinks with a nice open bar area. The seating areas are nice, open and have a family style decor. The craft cocktails are pretty good with a nice selection of ingredients. They have a nice touch with the branded orange peels and garnishes. Really enjoyed the smoky old fashioned. The pricing on some of the cocktails was a bit high, but were still very good. The food was tasty and the fine presentation added to the experience. We had the brussel sprouts which were really nice with the ham and seasoning, but over done with too much sauce that made it over sweet / salty. The same was true of the short rib. A little moderation on the sauces and heavier use of some spices would make a perfect balance. The wait staff were extremely nice and attentive. This lead to a positive and enjoyable experience. The bathrooms were very clean and well kept, thank you.Overall a very enjoyable evening. We will definitely come back again and hopefully soon.
The most lavish hidden gem I have yet to find in Lake Charles. Amazing food. Plethora of liquor options and attentive staff. Will be back soon..
Awesome evening with friends, could not get into Mavens and I tell you what , we were not disappointed! This food was fantastic! Prime Rib, Mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, snapper and hanger steak where all very delicious!
