A coworker and I went to eat lunch at this well known, local establishment. I haven't been here in over 5 yrs. I got the large "surf and turf" and it was as good as it ever was!?Still the best po-boys around! I ate half for lunch and had the other half for supper. I also won a quick $60 on video poker. The scenery is very nice too.?Very satisfying experience!?
We were on a road trip, and we stopped here randomly. The place looked a bit too local for me, and didn't have too many choices, just few sandwiches. I got the surf and turf with sauce on the side, I highly recommend doing that or it will be too messy. The sandwich was AMAZING. Once I ate the food I was more relaxed. My wife got the bbq sandwich, it wasn't that great. I would eat here again.
Excellent! My wife and I really enjoyed everything about this place. I had the Surf and Turf with jalapeño mayo. It was messy as all get out with much more meat than I expected. You definitely get much more than you pay for here. Though it was messy I just decided to embrace it and it was a great experience! Good selection of beer on tap as well. Highly recommend checking this place out if you have a chance. I can't wait to come back and try some other options.
This place was good but I sat at the bar and the bartender did not care about serving me at all. It made me feel like he would spit in my food just because. I enjoyed the food but did not feel welcomed. Bartender was taking my order and the one of his buddies came up and he made me wait while they talked about nothing important. Disappointed because I was told this place was great.
These were absolutely amazing sandwiches in a half bar half restaurant type atmosphere. Place was packed at 11 am on a Saturday. that alone should let you know it's good. But then the sandwiches were unbelievable. One of the things that I love about this place is they do not serve fried food in a land full of fried food lovers. And they still kill it. They also have a full bar and it feels like the kind of place you just want to hang out all afternoon. We will definitely return the next time we're back in Lake Charles.
Lots of parking. We got seated closest to the door.
Always a large Darrell special but only sometimes with jalapeños mayonnaise when your feeling spicy. This has been a staple everytime I return home always fresh always amazing. Ham roast beef turkey drenched in brown gravy but it's their bread they have custom made that just takes the cake
They make po boy sandwiches an art. The gravy on them is awesome but makes it messy. Might want to ask for a fork to eat some out of the bun before you start munching on it.
DAMN!The Surf & Turf all the way with gravy and jalapeño mayo was superb!Warning you need to eat this over a sink or be prepared for a cold shower afterward! This sandwich/Po Boy is MESSY! But delicious, tender beef, loaded with succulent shrimp, oozing with cheese, dripping with gravy and the bread super fresh good outer crisp with soft center.Only problem is I am going to want to eat this everyday and don’t live in LA!
One of (if not the best) hot turkey sandwiches I've ever had. Turkey was juicy(as advertised on the menu) and well seasoned. The bread was great; soft with a nice crisp crust. The jalapeño mayo was a touch of needed heat. It's a bit messy but good overall. Our group had seasoned vets who also ordered the "Darrell" (the favorite), "Surf and Turf", and ham sandwiches. The unnoticed mention of the 4% surcharge for paying with a credit card was the only mar on this experience.Overall, I am glad we stopped on our way to New Orleans. It is definitely worth making a stop here.
