Beautiful old building and wonderful food
As a traveler passing thru, you have to pay to meter park. It’s either coins or pay thru an app. The inside is small and the tables they seat 2 at are so small. Once they bring your food, drink with your napkin & silverware there is no more room. A little table right up against the wall is not an atmosphere to enjoy your meal. I ordered the ham & grilled cheese, $12!
Scrabble eggs infused with truffles? Wow, that was the first for us, and, we've been around.Lafayette downtown is changing for the better.Everything about this place was unique and filled with surprises. Including their bloodies, with gourmet marinated olives.Vegetarian have several choices including pan-fried, if you ask them.Great biscuits and extra friendly staff
This restaurant was once our favorite in town. It has gone from amazing food and drinks to service so bad you don’t even make it to either. We walked in this morning and not a single person greeted us. After a few minutes we decided instead of waiting for a table we would just go to the bar. No one greeted us there either…there were broken dishes scattered about, floors were dirty and no one was cleaning that either but those were minor details compared to how absolutely rude the (way too small) staff was. After 15 minutes I asked someone if anyone was going to be able to help us to which she responded “there’s no bar tender today” and turned her back ha! It was almost funny it was so bad. Sadly, I don’t think we will be back. We rarely have moments without our kiddos so can’t waste over an hour trying to be served at a place. It’s been really bad the last handful of times we have gone but the food is delicious we keep hoping they’ll make the changes necessary.
This was once our favorite spot in town. The last several times we visited, the service has gone from bad to worse. Today the staff did not even greet us and when we approached someone asking for help, it changed nothing. This sucks because we absolutely love the vibe, the food is some of the best in town and it’s been a real part of our lives and of downtown Lafayette. I really hope the owners realize that the service is killing this beautiful restaurant before it’s too late. :(
My wife and i were in town visiting local friends for the music festival. They recommended we venture to The French Press for breakfast. First, great location in a beautiful room with high ceilings. Second, the service was fast and efficient. But the food was outstanding and I left a few pounds heavier than when I arrived. I will definitely repeat this again next year when we return.
we arrived at 9 am and about 5 minutes later we were told 40 mi ute wait. No problem at all we were expecting that. Over and hour later my husband is told it will be at least another 30 or 45 minutes wait. no explanation. no apology. Mothers get ONE day a year. if you're going to open, get it together and train your people, take reservations, do SOMETHING better. Didn't get a call that a table was ready until OVER two hours later.
This was our first visit to a downtown restaurant in a long time and we were pleasantly surprised. Micah, our waitress, was exceptionally attentive to two old folks. We had the pancakes and French toast; both were very good and filling. The only negative was the noise. It’s an old rectangular venue with flat walls so be prepared for lots of sounds. Also, lots of good food.
This restaurant is fantastic. I loved the rustic interior and the food was delicious. My husband had Grits and Grillades for which he would gladly make a 4 hr trip to have again and our friend said they were the best he's ever had. Need I say more? Highly recommended!
Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!First visit, and it was fantastic. The staff is every bit as engaging, warm and welcoming as any in Acadiana. The Cajun Benedict and Praline Bacon is unbelievable. The Fench Press is definitely going to be a must stop every time we're in town.
