I ordered the No. 1 for dinner and was satisfied. The food was good, but not exceptional. The margaritas were very good! Although I did not drink anything aside from the margarita, the drink menu looked very appeasing
Probably the worst Mexican food in Lafayette and very loud, unpleasant environment. I really don't get the appeal.
Terrible experience tonight. Got there at 4:45 pm and the front dining room was empty and the waiting room was packed. I was told there was 5 pm seating and we would have to wait an hour. The back dining room is closed according to the hostess. I never saw any announcement that LaFonda was going to scheduled seating and doesn’t take reservations? Not sure why Managment made this change but it is a place I won’t be visiting anytime soon. Food has always been ok but not great.
Disgusted by the owner. Tried to say hello and introduce myself and all I got was a fake smile. She should sell this company. She obviously doesn’t want to be a part of what La Fonda use to be when her dad ran it. Ruining a good tradition.
Mexican food with a Cajun twist! Great ambiance, wonderful staff, and the best margaritas ever created on earth.
The Chile relleno (cheese) was delicious. Full of flavor and traditional Mexican cheese was used to make it. The egg and breading was light and fluffy and the peppers were big! They have fried rabbit with a queso sauce that they are known for. They are also known for their creative cocktails and margaritas. Bring a designated driver or have Uber/Lyft ready if you decide to partake.
Big Wednesday night before New Year’s! We arrive at LaFonda’s at 8:00 p.m. only to be told they quit taking names for tables 30 minutes ago!!!!! Really!!!!!
Our server Matt was excellent, the food on the other hand was not. If you want great Mexican food this is not the place to go. I had high expectations for this place, and had always wanted to eat here. Such a disappointment.
It was bad, food was bland, waited so long for our food I considered leaving but we stuck it out. Good finally came and the plate was hotter than our food it had been sitting for a while. Only positive thing I can say was the waiter was friendly. Left right after went to the taco truck on Johnston. Also price comparison food was $100 plus I left a twenty because I wasn't sure if it was the waiters fault. The taco truck $36 left a $10 tip and got twice the food it was delicious.
I’d give zero if I could. We were ignored by the staff. Plates were hotter than the food was. Nothing tasted good. Honestly an insult to Mexican food and way overpriced.
