First time there. I ordered the fried catfish/shrimp platter. The shrimp were extremely small and so were the catfish. My sister ordered the fried oyster platter and was happy with it because the oysters were good sized oysters. The service was good, but I wasn't all that thrilled with my food. I will be back though and most likely order something different. Once I do that, I'll place another review.
I didn't try the raw oysters, so I can't rate that. I was bummed that char grilled oysters wasn't an option. I had Shrimp LA LA, the description says shrimp, mushrooms, and garlic in butter, and that I could have it with pasta. I wrongly assumed butter was just used to cook them .. It was a bowl 1/2 inch deep with pure melted butter with shrimp and mushrooms. The pasta was angel hair. The flavor was great, but a little salty, and way too much butter. My kiddo had the kids chicken tender. Singular... One chicken tender with 12 fries. The bright spot was the boiled potatoes..For me, it's not somewhere I will try again.
OMG.. Where to start? I gave this place one star because I can't give 0 stars. Try the seafood stuff potato what a bad decision . I got something in a bowl that I thought was potatoes and seafood but it was hard to tell under the 6 inches of nacho cheese! I can't blame myself Cause I didn't choose this restaurant . Give this place a pass.
Crawfish was absolutely horrible no seasoning over cooked along with pretty much being told we are lieing as well as getting money off.
Ordered the cheese sticks and cup of "seafood gumbo" as appetizers. I was really dissapointed when the gumbo was delivered with shrimp and okra instead or seafood. The gumbo had a good flavor but it wasn't what I expected.I had the boiled crawfish and shrimp for my main meal. They were boiled and seasoned perfectly. I really enjoyed my meal. My dinner company ordered the fried shrimp and catfish boats. It was all cooked perfectly golden brown with just the right amount of seasoning.The employees were very friendly. It's a friendly atmosphere. I would definitely suggest this as a great place to eat.
Found this online, reviews were good, decided to give it a try. Went with intention of PoBoy. Lunch special was Shrimp Fettucine, green salad and fried pistolette, all for $7.95. Very tasty and quick. Super nice staff, look forward to working in that area again!
The staff was new but friendly and the food was excellent. We had fried shrimp, roast beef poboy and seafood kickers. All were excellent. Great local establishment for good food and service.
We heard it was under new ownership . Went there realized the portions are way smaller , prices are way high and service was substandard . After years of eating there, we will not return.A $13.00 salad is now the size of a side salad. Very disappointing !
The staff made me feel so at home throughout my whole time there.
"There is now way I am eating here. This place is in a strip mall and those types of places always suck!" That was my reaction when we first pulled up to this place!! MAN OH MAN... I am glad I went in and gave them a try! I will tell you this, a po-boy is not a po-boy unless you use the right type of bread. That is why places like Domelise's and Parkway Bakery are top 2 po-boy shops in NOLA! They use the right bread. Not thick, not too thin, has a little crisp in the crust and the inside has a little softness to it. And Chookies has that same type of bread! When I bite into that shrimp po-boy for the first time, my eyes closed shut, my mouth went into a huge smile, and I did a little dance in my seat, I was so happy I found a true po-boy in Hammond, LA!!! The seafood is fried just right with the right amount of seasoning and it come out hot and fresh. Appetizers where great, kids loved their food, and the menu has just enough to keep you coming back for more but not too much that you can't decide what to eat!! Added bonus, you can order for pick-up before arriving, and pull up to their to-go window! Fast and easy way to do it!! The only thing I did not like about this spot is the space on the inside. Wish it would have been a little bigger and the chairs a tad more comfortable. I know these are petty items to nick-pick, but I am honest with everything I review. I do not leave anything out nor do I exaggerate with my experiences! If this place was a stand-alone restaurant and had more comfortable seats, they would be getting 5 stars from me every time!! With that said, I give this spot 4.6 out of 5 stars!!
