Sign Says Ichiban (Gonzales). Been here countless times. Always fast and exactly what I ordered. Friendly, thorough staff. Comfortable indoor seating. Stocked bar. Lots of wine options. I highly recommend the Rock and Roll sushi rolls, steak hibachi, and shrimp tempura.
Toxic manager will force this location to close. After waiting 45 minutes for half of our order after the first half was set on the table, the manager was unwilling to negotiate to a fair discount on the ticket. Despite it not being about the money, her customer service skills were the poorest I’ve seen in any establishment. I was polite and calm, so it was not personal. Her name is Ms. Edwards for any reference, and surprisingly she stated that they cannot please every customer. The staff appeared to be lacking, but having the hostesses quarrel upon entering, then have a young man take our order only for the real waitress to pick the table up, and the disorganized food prep was part of the managerial issues. The food was average, definitely not Ichiban quality. This is not a customer service atmosphere that our family will ever provide economic support to again. And we tipped as though it was good service, 20%, since the staff should not suffer from its leadership. Ms. Edwards grudgingly gave us 15% off the ticket, even with my voicing that was not an acceptable consideration. It may be lack of foresight on Ichiban’s leadership not to give management the authority to do the right thing.
Absolutely NOT a 4.1 restaurant! One of the poorest all round restaurant experiences I have had in the 16 years I have lived in Baton Rouge. There where four people in the restaurant when we got there at 6:15 on Sunday night. We didn’t get our food until 7.30. Fried rice and four sushi rolls!! Our server spent most of her time hanging out in the parking lot instead of keeping us updated on our order. Terrible service, our fried rice was delivered at best room temp, close to cold. How do you screw up fried rice!! When the sushi was finally delivered they were rolled so loosely they fell apart picking them up. Unbelievable! How do you call yourself a sushi restaurant when you can’t even make a decent Philadelphia Roll. Saw the review calling this place a cut above average dining, the owner must have wrote the review. Don’t waste your time or money on this place.
We went to celebrate a birthday it was a good atmosphere. Service was good the sashimi platter was good. The Hibachi took a while since they were training a new person but he was friendly. I will recommend this place
Dirty dirty dirty! I’m talking unsanitary conditions. The bathroom had fungus growing around the sink, windows were smeared, interior covered in noticeable layers of dust. Uggg! The food was barely mediocre and took a long time even though there were only a few tables dining. I would not go back. Totally disappointed in the Ichiban brand… Our server Tiara was the only bright spot in the experience and was super nice.
Awesome experience. The miso soup is so good. And the hibachi was very good. Our chef Steve was the best!! And these jalapeño bombers with crabmeat was good as well.
This place is horrible. (Most of the waiters and waitresses are extremely nice and attentive) The management at this place is so unorganized. I was sitting and waiting for my 3 sushi rolls for like two hours, therefore i try and call a manager but my waiter said that the manager was busy. I waited around 30 minutes to no avail. I genuinely do not recommend this place to anyone.
Hibachi was ok. Sushi was below average based on other establishments I have visited. Our server was very nice. Service in general was slow considering the lack of other patrons. The ginger salad was very good.
Sushi was amazing and the service was great! The Tiger roll is one of the best sushi rolls I’ve ever had
This place is awesome! Food is delicious! Atmosphere is spot on for a high quaility sushi restaurant! Very friendly staff. Cajun roll is off the chain! The raw fish sushi is fresh. The fried rice is some of the best I've had. Not sure why all the bad reviews. I've been there twice and will be going back!
