Went to James Restaurant in denham springs la. In hopes to get good food. I was saddened because I paid 17 dollars for a 1/2 cup of old red beans that were not cooked and no flavor.They put a small piece of sausage on the top with a 1/3 of rice. I also got a very small portion of nasty cabbage and a small portion of box mashed patatoes. I could have went to longhorn steakhouse and got a nice steak meal for less and a whole lot better food. I can bet the cost of the food I got was about 2 dollars worth!
Great diner like restaurant to get breakfast and soak in the environment. The chicken fried steak and eggs was probably the best I have had and will likely be dreaming about it. Friendly and helpful staff that were quick to get to me as soon as I was seated. I will definitely be back soon to try out more of their menu as well as their lunch.

Biscuit and gravy and 2 eggs medium. The waitresses were very pleasant and attentive although since you seat yourself, it took them a few minutes to spot me. The gravy had an excellent sausage gravy consistency and flavor, but was not piping hot when it got me. The biscuit was not homemade, but had a good texture, was not cakey and the flavor was pretty good. The eggs were perfectly cooked. Add a little pepper to season and breakfast was very good. The coffee was Community Coffee and one can't go wrong there. Overall a very good breakfast and I will be back to try other items on the menu.I always forget to take a picture lol
Excellent diner. Honestly every town or city needs a good spot to hang-out or eat at. As far as Denham Springs and the surrounding area is concerned, this place is it.
Food was great! Service good! Someone paid for our breakfast because my husband is a Vietnam veteran. I would love to be able to thank them.

The service is great but the food is mediocre and if you don't have to use the restroom before you leave consider that an achievement
