Arrived here at around 615am, at the time the staffed seemed half asleep and pretty much ignored me when I asked where the restroom was.. my partner decided to use the restroom while I browsed the menu. It was my first time here and I didn't even know how to order. When it was my turn to use the restroom I can hear my partner laughing, always the one to start a conversation w strangers. Nonetheless, when I came out I was greeted by Clarice and Beau and they were happy enough to share the history of Chicory coffee a second time. They were very friendly, I just think we needed a sec. The place was clean and were given samples of their frozen iced coffee. The beignets were delicious!! Paired well with the Chicory coffee!! I wished I lived near by because I would be here every day. They told us the history and we told them about our road trip with our fur baby. They immediately said you can sit outside and we will put these on plates for you, what a plus that its super dog friendly. Thanks again CLARICE AND BEAU!
My husband and I stopped here for breakfast on an overnight visit to Covington. The young man and lady at the counter were very friendly. Our coffee and beignets were hot and delicious! The restaurant is clean. We’re so glad there is a Cafe Du Monde in Covington!
Giving it a neutral rating as I cannot say much due to the dining area being closed. Sometimes it is more about hanging out with friends for an order of cafe au lait and beignets. Not a drive-thru only fan!
The beignets today were off. Not so much airy and fluffy as usual. The wait staff was rude with lots of yelling from one lady. A young guy was trying hard. He seemed to be new. Not exactly knowing what was going on which led the lady to yell more.
Beignets were cold so we're a bit harder to eat. No wait, solid pricing. We sat outside on their patio which was great for 4 kids.
Honestly wished we went somewhere else for our breakfast treat. We visited the location at City Park in New Orleans. The Beignets were not the perfectly Pillowy soft yeast donut many rave about. I think it was over mixed and made them tough. The coffee was hot, fresh, rich and much appreciated for a cool and windy morning. The place could have been cleaner, but staffing shortages I imagine are to blame for this.
I give 4 star only due to beignet a tad doughy this go round. They are usually very light. And with a Cafe au lait , combination is a soothing treat.
Empty when we went, but that means...old beignets. Got 3 plates, and 6/9 were flat and room temperature. The 3 good ones just made us sad about the other 6. Cafe au lait was excellent and hot. Workers were definitely friendly. I wish they had a better way of keeping the beignets fresh. Don't want to waste food, but I'm paying for similar quality to the original place.
The beignets were served cold and not fully cooked. The cafe au lait was good. There were maybe four other customers and every table was covered in dirty dishes and sugar. The guy they asked to bus the tables was very courteous. It’s a shame he had to clean the entire lobby by himself after it had been neglected.The place would be good if they would just make the beignets fresh and keep the lobby clean.
I saw this restaurant on the Netflix movie “Chef” and had to go here to try it out. I was NOT disappointed! Fantastic staff, fantastic food. Loved everything about this place!
