I went to this restaurant today! I met this lady name Clarissa, who was my waiter. She had a positive attitude and I enjoy her overall vibe. The food was delicious and I recommend coming here if you want to bring your family or friends here. Also, shout-out to Heather who was working the cashier. She was incredible!Thank you Strawn's for the best customer service! This is a great popular breakfast that makes your stomach and brain happy. This is a great serotonin boost and it made my morning!
First time eating here - obviously super popular as it was packed with a line at the door. The lady seating was shuttling all the new guest to the tables of those leaving quicker than the buss boy could clean. Food was good, came out pretty quick. Can’t say that I called their potatoes “home fries” as they did, but my omelette was really good. I’d go back again.
Looking at the menu, you think this place is a little pricy until the food comes out: Large portions made to order and fresh. A side of bacon comes with four substantial crispy strips. Toast is delivered to your table warm and buttery ready for jam. The pancakes are generous and hot, and you are served a warm vat of syrup.A fun mural of the local downtown river area with stars recent and past is fun to peruse while you wait. Hot coffee and serious servers who do their jobs well await you. TOO thumbs up.
My husband and I eat here multiple times a month. The food is delicious (especially the pies) and the staff is so kind and attentive. The place is always packed so that's how you know it's good! We are happy to wait for a table every time because it's worth it.
The food isn't consistent. Some days the black eye peas are loaded with to much onion and bell peppers some days they are good. The greens are good but some days to much pepper. The home style hash browns are mushy and lack flavor. The beef tips are over cooked to the point they fall apart and get lost in the gravy. It's ok for the price though. I haven't ate the burgers and breakfast is breakfast you can't really mess up eggs or pancakes. They could use some rolls because cold corn bread isn't that great and doesn't go with everything.
Had not been to Strawn's in years. Too bad it wasn't Wednesday--we wanted the fried chicken lunch! But the catfish was good, the beans, salad, hushpuppies way better than average. Rice & gravy were a strange accompaniment to cat fish, but whatever. My husband said his chicken fried steak was good but a little tough. Our friends cheeseburger looked delicious. But --- the PIE! SO delicious! We shared coconut, she had chocolate (I had a bite). The best in the world.
I wouldn’t suggest you sit at the bar. Sitting there you get a first hand look at the comings and goings. I watched the waitresses making toast wiping their face putting biscuits on plates coughing. No masks or gloves. Couldn’t finish my meal. When I tried to talk to the person cashing me out she didn’t seem to care.
Delicious food, friendly staff. I went with work colleagues and did a breakfast for dinner things. I had the omelette with all the fixings and it was perfectly made - fluffy and stuffed full of those fixings. Don’t forget to try the pie! The coconut was delicious.
I would have taken more pictures but the food was so good I forgot! We had breakfast and it was SO good! Hand made whipped cream, real butter, and huge portion sizes! Ham steak and bacon were delicious. I honestly can't say anything bad about this place! It is a huge, open dining area. Which was packed and should have been very loud. NOPE! People were too busy eating??We even took home a strawberry icebox pie for desert that evening. A+++
Great breakfast! The bacon was crispy and plentiful, the biscuits were awesome. The french toast was good. The chocolate chip pancakes with strawberries and fresh real cream were amazing!
