Met friends for lunch. We were greeted warmly and immediately shown to a table. Iced tea was fresh brewed and perfect. As an appetizer, we had the cheese fries which were the best I've had in Baton Rouge. Starting with perfectly seasoned fries and covered with melted cheedar, they were delicious. I then had a side salad with the house dressing which was rich and tasty. I ordered the catfish and white beans which were excellent. The beans were delicately seasoned and complimented the catfish which was seasoned to cajun percection without being overly salty, and fried thin and crispy. I also wanted to try their crawfish etouffee, which is often not great at restaurants, but their's was well seasoned, but not salty or hot. I have leftovers for dinner and am very happy with my meal, as were my friends. I will be back!

Step out of my comfort zone, and ordered the Blackened bayou Catfish, and I must say it was close your eyes good. I'm not the one to do veggies but these veggies were PERFECT!! Then to top off my waiter Duffy took care of us... He recommended my dish, and our entire visit he stayed on top of everything. Great waiter!!! I would definitely recommend this place.

Had to wait about an hour, but we had a party of ten, on a Friday evening-- not unexpected. Food was great and surprisingly affordable. Our waiter August was phenomenal. Hands down the best server I have had anywhere (including places that consider themselves fancier) in as long as I can remember. He was extremely polite, attentive, communicated well with the table... I could not have asked for a better waiter. Sammy's is great and we always enjoy going, but this young man made a normally great dining experience truly memorable.

Decent local place but need help with staffing.Food was good, as always. However, the guy waiting in us was covering half (or more) of the restaurant. Help was there, he was just taking care of most it including the bar side.Multiple tables were open and we still waited almost 30 minutes for a table. When they finally called us in they sat us at one table that had been open the entire time.Food was good overall, fresh and well seasoned. The only complaint being that everything was slow. We ordered adult drinks that took forever, our appitizers coming before. Our salads came after the entrees, because they forgot. I also asked about crab (was it in season?). Was told Sammy's doesn't serve crab, even though it is printed in the menu under the banner "boil"Food is worth it overall but floor management needs to improve. Pretty loose overall; however. You do have a couple hustling to take care of patrons.

Sammy's is great for a taste of Louisiana and has a cute bar. They have undergone changes in the past few years in portions and in quality. If not for those changes it would be a 5 star, HOWEVER the food is still yummy and I love the atmosphere.

We got there at 3:30 on a Sunday. We had a party of 10. We were seated at 4:15. Waited forever to get drinks. Took an hour to get appetizers. We were there a whole 2.5 hours from waiting to be seated until walking out the door to leave. All of the food was good. Our only complaint was the time it took to get food and drinks. The boiled crawfish were seasoned well; easy to peel and delicious. The shrimp were well fried. Catfish seemed to have a cornmeal batter. We would definitely stop in again. Hopefully the service will be a little quicker.

Waitress was good, but seafood gumbo in bowl was 14 dollars and was in a cup size bowl. Taste was like it was canned. No heat at all. Main course was supposed to be catfish over crawfish etouffee. What came was a mess. Thin completely dry catfish strips. Rice and under 5 crawfish in dish. Was sorely disappointed . Spend your money elsewhere, this place needs to revamp menu or purge chef staff. I’d wager on ladder.

So the beginning was a little rocky but Alyssa (I hope I spelled it right) our waitress was AWESOME!!!! she was so great we had to call the manager and tell him how wonderful she treated us!! She went above & beyond and made our whole night special!! We truly appreciate her!!

We went tonight for my fathers 71st birthday. I ordered boiled shrimp and they were so mushy I couldn’t eat them. My dads fried catfish was also mushy. This is so not like the Sammy’s we’ve had in the past. Very disappointing for a $120+ meal. Our waitress was wonderful of course.

I ordered grilled fish in lemon butter. it came out so hot with cajun spices as well as vegetables so hot with cajun spices i couldn't eat them. i couldn't even taste vegetables they were so loaded with cajun spice and burned mouth. There are no American or regular orders except maybe the hamburger. In past Sammys was not this way. Maybe I caught them on a bad night.
