The food and service were amazing!
The WORST dining experience I’ve ever had. The waitress was VERY rude and her reason was she was working six tables. The food was VERY mediocre and cold for the price. I purchased a peach Bellini and it was gross. I told the waitress and she said i figured you wouldn’t like it, it’s very bitter: AFTER i ordered and it was delivered warm as heck !!! Then said, but i can’t help you we don’t take alcohol back with Covid and all. ? She rushed us to order so bad we felt bullied. It was turnout and i don’t even leave reviews!!! I could have over looked the food had the service not been trash. I mean ABSOLUTELY terrible!!!! I’ll never go back!!!! $100 down the drain and we rather been at ihop. I’ll never cheat on Another Broken Egg!!
No seasoning at all. The biscuits were ok. Fried green tomatoes are frozen not fresh. Asked for seasoning and they said they had none in the kitchen. Well yes you could tell
Great service, even 30 minutes before close! I hate being those people having been in the restaurant business in my 20’s but we were craving brunch last Saturday and due to traffic and driving 35 minutes (on a regular traffic day), it took us longer than expected. However, the entire staff did a phenomenal job all the way around! The food, the service, ALL of it!We will definitely be back, earlier next time ? (we were actually out by about 3:15 and there were still several tables still eating)!
I plan to go again with friends; I went to check it out before hand, but unfortunately I'll have a crestfallen spirit. It took about 4 tablespoons to "wolf" down the single serving of grits. apparently the one egg is a large egg, there fore ordering two may not be necessary. I sent the breakfast potatoes back - wait staff inquired ; what they don't look good? Well, since you stated it - exactly.
Went here for a late breakfast today, the waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. Although the restaurant was very busy she made sure to check in on us frequently. This was my first time trying Ruby Slipper so the waitress recommended the sweet heat chicken and french toast bites which were so yummy!!! I will be back to try more menu items!
It was good, service a little slow for a Tuesday morning but would still recommend going there. The green fried tomatoes were the best we have had so far in Louisiana!
This is one of those situations where the hype does not quite meet the intended expectation. I hope to explain the review so the management and consumer can understand my 3 stars. Our server was exceptional for this visit. Great people skills and knowledge of the menu. We had a cafe latte and French toast bites to start. The coffee was a bit weak and they provided no spoon to stir in any sweetener. It’s Louisiana and the coffee should have an attitude fitting to stand up to the dairy. This screamed latte no cafe! Paper straws - I really dislike them. I know it’s a green alternative, however, they break down in my beverage (iced water) and they weaken. The server provide plates, and napkins prior to the starter which is a necessity unless you want to feel like your eating from a buffet. The French toast bites are dirty, crusted morsels, albeit for the sides and caramel drizzle. This was done very well. Perfect if the coffee had delivered to its expectation. Our entrees, although edible, were neither visually appealing or as reported by other reviews raving the delights of the Epicurious. The biscuits and gravy, although built up to a pinnacle deserving of an Olympian feat, fell short in delivering the anticipatory glory of mouthwatering exceptionalism. The gravy was a watery mess of broken tears and subpar sausage. The eggs were not fresh and appeared and tasted like premade panned eggs. That’s atrocious if you expect fresh scrambled eggs. They are easy to do. They take 1-2 minutes unless they are done in the French style and creamed to perfection. The fried green tomato was perfect. Crisp, textured, and absolutely a treat along with the bacon. These are however sides to the main dish. Biscuits do not need to be that high to deliver the intended expectation. Too much bread versus gravy. The avocado, salmon toast should have been a key winner in this deflated adventure. The presentation was good. The poached egg, although perfect in cooking was not exceptional in flavor. This may be fine for some, however, your using green straws and so you would anticipate an organic egg that delivers a flavor profile to match this well developed menu item. The salmon used, tasted old and fishy. This really can’t express my disappointment in any words that don’t convey the expletives I wish I could place here. All the other ingredients were perfect minus the flavorless egg and sad, very sad fish. Wrapping it up, great service has to be more than the weak performance of the kitchen.
First time at Ruby Slippers visiting from CA. Food was delicious. My server, Rachel was super friendly and her food recommendations were absolutely on point. Will be back next time in Baton Rouge!
My daughter and I really enjoyed our brunch. We had the French toast bite starter and the southern breakfast. She also had hot chocolate. She said it was the best brunch ever.
