We came on a Sunday and there were many ahead of us. We waited 35 minutes. Oysters were just ok, not meaty . Salad was ok. I ordered the Vermilion and it was good. My friend loved his catfish. Service was excellent!
Loved the vibe, wait time was not bad. Rebekah G was awesome. Pleasant attitude. Very attentive to our needs.
The food is delicious..we had the shrimp gumbo, stuffed shrimp, whole catfish $ fried shrimp..The service was exceptional!! Fast & friendly. I highly recommend Parrain’s!!
I'm not a seafood expert but this seafood was amazing, and i will 100% go back. I ordered take out and they were busy, which is the first thing I look for when trying new spots. If the parking lot was empty that's a red flag and typically not a place i want to try. So i waited a bit longer then pick up time but they had 8 other orders going out, and it was worth the extra few minutes. The price was more then fair, I was expecting it to be more honestly. With the quality, it was in my opinion, a great value.
Be sure the hostess types your phone number correctly or your stomach will shake the pillars while staring at your phone.I’ve been here multiple times with different guests. It’s cool to bring out of state guests as most states lack food ingenuity. The atmosphere reminds me of Mulattes in a way- RIP.They offer sweetened and unsweetened freshly brewed tea. The fried green tomatoes were good. Hush puppies have a sweet taste. The andouille crusted fish was okay. I wouldn’t order it again as i didn’t like the sauce paring. The fried whole catfish was fried perfect and had a great taste. I feel terrible for the food runners. I witnessed four incidents where different guests lacked consideration. The poor food runner almost dropped the whole tray due to a lady in a rush to sit down.On to the the bathrooms- quite scary. Awaiting swamp thing to pop out and tackle me. Eesh. Hope it wasn’t leg day cause hovering is the way to go
Oh My Word!!!! Every single thing we ordered was fantastic! Appetizers of Fried Green Tomatoes and Crab & Crawfish AuGratin was the best and most delicious thing in this WORLD!! Holy crap I could eat that everyday for the rest of my life! The fried catfish was fried to perfection. The Crab and corn bisque was phenomenal. My son had Crawfish e’touffe with fried crawfish tails. Freakin Fab!!! And then we shared a Bread Pudding to die for!
The wait was short (less than 30 minutes) on this Wednesday night dining in experience. Our appetiser of crab stuffed mushrooms was delicious and not overfilling. Our server, Abigail, was knowledgeable about the different questions we asked regarding the food. She made sure the beer kept coming to the table and she was managed multiple large and small tables well and speedily - always with a great disposition. Our food came out hot and DELICIOUS! Definitely a nice place to go for a unique experience and I would go back again if in the area!Yum!
I may be getting used to Cajun and Creole cooking but I'll never order a fried alligator appetizer. That said, my wife and I enjoyed everything else on the menu at Parrain's Seafood Restaurant. Located at 3225 Perkins Road, Parrain's is a popular choice as the best restaurant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Established in 2001, it is partial to seafood with a pinch of Cajun thrown in. Because we're partial to a more fish/less meat diet, Parrain's made for a natural destination. It is open from 11 to 10 Sunday through Thursday and 11 to 11 on Friday and Saturday. We started with bacon wrapped BBQ shrimp, crab and corn bisque, seafood gumbo and Caesar salad with romaine lettuce, croutons, parmesan cheese and Caesar dressing. For an entree, my wife opted for an eight-ounce filet with coleslaw, sauteed crawfish bearnaise sauce, lump crabmeat and hollandaise sauce. I preferred an andouille crusted redfish with coleslaw, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans sauteed with garlic. For dessert, we shared portions of white chocolate pudding and chocolate pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. Authentic southern restaurants, like Parrain's, always offer a taste of spice if not hot sauce.
We’ve been to Parrain’s many times over the past ten years and the food has always been top notch. Our visit today was absolutely not up to par. Our salads were warm and completely wilted. My husband’s hollandaise sauce for his steamed broccoli was spoiled. My fish was very dry and seemed overcooked. On a positive note, our server was great! Very attentive and prompt. The food was so poor that I’m not sure we’ll try it again as there are so many other great restaurants in the Baton Rouge and surrounding communities.
It's not often that you find yourself thinking fondly back on the meal you had the previous day, reflecting on all the things you enjoyed about the experience. This was one of those places. I ordered the Atchafalaya entree. The fish was cooked perfectly, as well as my side dish, which was sauteed asparagus (not too crisp, not mushy--just right). My wife ordered the crab and crawfish au gratin appetizer, which was amazing. The presentation of the toasted bread on the plate was wonderful. It had seasoning on it of different types, including what tasted like fresh oregano--an original and unexpected twist. Our waiter acknowledged it was his first night on the job, but he was attentive and did everything he could to make sure we had a great dining experience. A wonderful place overall. We had carrot cake for dessert. The cake was moist, and had a bit of orange zest on it. Again, an unexpected twist that added flavor and originality to a common dessert option. It was delightful.
